Josh Barnett's UFC return delayed (again) after heavyweight accepts movie role - MMAmania.com

According to a recent report from "UFC Tonight," the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight contender has delayed his mixed martial arts (MMA) comeback, once again, after accepting a movie role that will command all of his time in the coming months.

As much as I was looking forward to Josh and Roy Nelson duke it out I think this is a great decision for Barnett. Josh has been around for a long time and although he's still a great competitor in the HW division its good to see him picking work that will not increase the chances of dementia or something.

And while "Big Country" is keen to the fight, too, he likely won't wait around another six-or-so months for Barnett to fight again.

This is also good to hear. I'm a fan of Roy and enjoy watching his fights and am curious to see who he gets paired up with now. Who would you like to see replace Barnett TMC? Bigfoot perhaps?

I guess, but he's got is whole life for that. After so much controversy over the years, I'd like to see him give it 100% and then quit. Feels like he's one foot in one foot out. That's no way to be a successful professional fighter. We all bemoan the decrease in other fighters as they spread themselves to distracting ventures.

I don't really hate him, but he is delusional. I listened to him on his last appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast. He was talking about his fight with Browne saying he wasn't really motivated and didn't care about the outcome. Just endless excuses. I hate when fighters try to take away from another fighter's performance. You got your ass kicked. Just shut up and move on.

I think he's been around long enough to do what he wants. He's had a long career.

I heard this too. I usually like Josh, but he didn't come off very well during that interview. When he started making excuses for the Browne fight I started to wonder if he was changing the story about John Wayne Parr too.

Tbh I think Josh just no longer has a hankering to fight. Much more content to take movie and commentating roles. All power to him for that though. Just bummed because as soon as he gets back in the UFC he has two fights and then is done.

It seems like it's either a love him or hate him relationship between Barnett & MMA fans, but I love the War Master. Good to see him exploring other opportunities, and working to map out life beyond fighting. Wish him all the best...but selfishly hope we get to see him in the octagon a couple more times before he hangs em up for good.
