They should be telling all the fighters to congratulate her. A woman mma fighter getting on the cover of SI is a huge deal. Look how far the sport of mma has come in such a short time. A little acknowledgment from your peers would be nice. The culture of mma is terrible. The fans are the worst ive seen in any other sport. Look at the other thread on here or any other mma forum on this topic. People want to dismiss her skills and shake their head at her being on the cover. People are more worried about arguing who is more dominant than who. Everyone is so god damn negative. It's disgusting. We should be celebrating the fact that theres an mma fighter on the cover. This is cool for the sport and the UFC would be stupid to not be promoting this. We, as fans, should want the sport to grow and be more recognized. Whether we like it or not, Ronda has mainstream appeal and we should be unified as a community in celebrating her accomplishment instead of trying to bad mouth her.
I don't agree. I feel she has a shitty attitude. A person with a shitty attitude is not a good representative of anything to me. I say again, to me. I do however respect your opinion in the matter. :)

So...uh...where the fuck is the poll? I clicked the thread to vote on a poll, not to read an article.

Love your stance here and to be clear I'm in no way shitting on her, I wrote its good she's on the cover and I'm not being sarcastic. Maybe I'm not wording my posts right or something but the issue I have is out of 550+ fighters only 2-4 of them get the big support from those who can offer it. I'm not suggesting a commie approach and gave 100% equal treatment across the board but its crazy how much attention a very small select group get when others can't even get a fight. Again Ronda is awesome at what she does and deserves a lot but so many more could probably get to this level of popularity if the bosses dropped their name every chance possible and got others to help drop these names when they achieved something notable. Do you really feel there is no favoritism towards Ronda at all? I'll say it again so this doesn't turn into an issue where my opinion is chalked up to discrediting her or anybody else who's successful and get the predictable "hater" argument, Ronda and Conor are great fighters and are great for the sport. I'm confident there's many more who could help promote this awesome sport but just aren't getting a chance to do so, look at a guy like Dominique Robinson @Dominique Robinson
I'm with you 100%. I would love for all the fighters to get more exposure, but we are such a niche sport. The mainstream media does not care about us. The general public doesn't give a shit about MMA. This is a reality we need to come to terms with. Ronda, on the other hand, appeals to the masses. I don't know why for sure, but most likely cuz she's a hot chick that beats people up and beats them up fast. She may not have the greatest attitude, but people find her perfomances captivating. The UFC is lucky as fuck to have someone on the roster be able to breakthrough like she has. They should be doing everything in their power to push her. The majority of the roster is not capable of drawing new viewers to the sport, but she can. Every time she fights, she exposes new viewers to other fighters on the card. Hopefully those people that tune in to just watch Ronda stick around and become mma fans and grow the sport.

The SI cover is a huge deal. 23 million people read SI every week. They are all gonna see a mma fighter on the cover. If Dana didnt get the social media team busting their ass to promote this and trying to get the other fighters to push this on their twitter, he should have been fired. Now shes gonna be on Howard Stern tomorrow and be exposed to another 2 million people. This is good news my homies. Let us rejoice!

Was twitter around then? It may be that it was a poor form of promotion, it may be that it was clunky, it may not even have worked. I just don't see how trying to promote someone who was on the cover of an influential magazine is favouritism. I'd like to think that if Jose Aldo had been the one on the cover that they would have done the same. Perhaps you don't, but I'll need to see something a bit more solid.
I have no idea what the buzz was when Roger made the cover tbh, not even sure of twitter was around but I just wanted to answer your question about who's been on SI.

Ronda is a big name now and its good that she keeps getting poaitive publicity. Having said that at what point does the UFC take a bit of their resources and start using them towards the building of somebody else? We all are pretty up on MMA news and what going on, with great fights like Vitor vs Weidman, Rory vs Robbie, DC vs AJ, TJ vs Barao, Cain vs Werdum and so on all the light seems to mainly shine on RR/CM still. If all those guys and more got some better support amd exposure from the brass the UFC and MMA as a whole would grow instead of just the Ronda brand as ChaosOverkill @ChaosOverkill pointed out. So much talent locked up and still a very narrow scope of who gets the opportunities from what I see.

Valid points here and I'll do my best to rejoice....I still think that it would be better to show a broader view of what MMA has to offer besides Ronda Ronda Ronda.

Look at the history of combat sports and even present day. Look at boxing. How many champions do they have and how many are actually known and broke through to the mainstream? It takes more than being the best in your weight class. I'm sure tons of boxers have great stories and are great dudes, but the masses still dont give a shit. The stars have to align perfectly for people to give a shit. It might be a nation that supports you to puts you over or how fast you win or how vicious you win. Who knows? But the reality is that its rare.

I think we all want the same thing. We all want the fighters of our sport to become stars and get the credit that they deserve. I just firmly believe that it's not possible for everyone when it comes to combat sports.

Valid point. I find myself falling into the category at times as well, and will try to correct that. But let's be honest though, the UFC does tend to provide plenty of ammunition to cause negativity.

Just cuz I raise a glass to La Paix @BirdWatcher doesn't mean you will be getting the same treatment. You stole Jenna Jameson from me. You are on my shit list right now.
