My dad really digs the style and spaces in the music that
Mark Knopfler incorporates in to his style.

I just can't get enough of the Dire Straits-Dire Straits album....such a great piece of work...underrated album

knopfler is far from underrated though
I am also a big fan of Knopfler, lots of great stuff.

As a guitar player, it frustrates me how good he was at those artificial harmonics.
I play as well. Which is why I know how fucking hard that shit is to do - while he's talking - and not really paying attention. Incredibly impressive. My harmonics are strictly the 7th and 12th fret - or pinched. I've gotten pretty decent at the pinched harmonic. But that's sort of cheating compared to what this dude is doing.

Just wandered over there, and I am very familiar with that video you posted of Mark and Chet. Great stuff man!
Do you follow Leo Kottke? He's one of my favorites.

Here's one of his that I like. Open tuning with slide - but his technique is incredibly unique...
It's a simple song, so if you want to skip to the fun stuff it starts at 1:30

Oh yeah, been listening to Kottke since the mid 90s or so. I'm a huge John Fahey fan, which led me to so many others like Kottke.

Hauler @Alco Hauler
I just thought of a funny Leo quote. He was once asked why he didn't sing more often and he said something like "because my voice sounds like goose farts on a muggy day"

Lol

Great stuff man, thanks for posting those in here!

I particularly like the first one, and that Collings sounds amazing! I live in the land of Collings (Austin) and I've been out to their shop, it's really cool. They make top notch guitars, it could be argued that they are making the best acoustics. My brother has a couple (A D2H and a Waterloo), but I haven't dropped the cash on one (not yet anyway, they are not cheap!).

You're welcome. Thanks for starting this thread. Good to know there's other axe slingers in this already awesome community.

Funny thing

My dad used to rent Don Ross Studio here in Eugene

Grew up in Eugene so I used to sit on the soundboards as recordings were going on...till they told me to go outside and play in the yard
