Honest question... Am I the only person that finds it strange that McCarthy does appearances for an organization? Refs are supposed to work for the commissions and be objective. When you start directly taking money from a organization it seems like it opens you up to a conflict of interest.

It's cool to see that a ref has another way to make money but it definitely feels odd.

Nah- I've seen Big John ref just about everywhere. He's a legend who helped shape the sport into what it is. He can do things like this without it feeling like he's pledging his loyalty to one company or the other.

You may be correct. I won't argue that he's capable of remaining objective and neutral. But it definitely seems like a slippery slope for any official to be contracted and paid by a company from which they're supposed to be somewhat removed.

If it was a fighter throwing this, like if Chael put this on and signed the check Big John cashed, then Big John was reffing the main event tomorrow, then I could see it.

But getting a little extra income to sign autographs and take pictures with fans...I'm ok with that.

McCarthy is what brought this to mind but I'm speaking in broad strokes.

You and I both know that promotionns sometimes have fighters that they want to see win a fight... It's not far fetched to think that something like this could open the door to favorable outcomes occurring.

To my knowledge, they still don't even create fight threads for anyone besides the UFC. How is that even possible?

Hells yeah.... excited for this card. Initially I had the Bad Guy over Cheeto but after seeing post TRT Chael at the weighins I think the Bad Guy's gonna have a rough night.
