Do posters have the option to lock threads they have created?

I'm about to start making some Conspiracy threads and would like to keep the thread locked till all information has been posted....

Think it would be a useful option for posters. then you could obviously have Admin/Mods with the ability to unlock threads at their discretion should this power be abused by the TS.
If we locked it, you -being a member- wouldn't be able to post in it.

Right.

Some forums allow their users to lock/unlock threads they have created.

Just seeing if you guys have thought about adding that option here.
Gotcha. The ability for a post to save your draft might help for now. Dunno what the boss man'll think.

I'll need to look into it. There's a lot of pros and cons there.
One short term fix for you is make three for four posts as place holders.
Then you have several days you can edit them to fill in what you want.

@Splint

Is this image pretty accurate to the data you are able to view as the Admin...

Was checking out various sites, looks like this forum is slowly rising, the UG is dropping hard and Sherdog is staying about the same.

Hopefully every user still posting on the UG migrates over here to the best ran forum in MMA.

I'd have to take a new look.
We see a lot of Twitter traffic and randomly huge hits on certain threads or someone on the UG starts a shit storm where we are the best/worst people ever. Funny thing is, I've never once actually posted over there and yet there the haters. C'est la vie.

is there a way to mark a thread as "unread" when u are on it? so that it will go back to ur unread list even if someone doesnt bump it...

i feel like that would be helpful. ive think i may have asked this before tho. if i have, apologies for beating a dead horse

Something that Sherdog does, that I wish this place did, is that when a major organization has an event, Sherdog will post the entire card on a single page, with play by play for each round. It's nice to be able to refresh that one page throughout the night. I know that this site has auto-refreshing threads for events, but it's hard to quickly figure out who has already won/lost, what happened each round, and how many fights are left.

Or just stream the fights in a box to the left?

im very new to twitter, and i guess it still has a character limit, right?

when we tweet a deedily deet a thread, like a team-playing rockin robin would do, is there a way for the automation to go out to google, create a shortened URL, and include that in the tweet that populates (for the sake of conserving characters)?

Automated? I don't know. But I use bitly for shortening URLs.

yeah i hear ya. i just learned about it recently. i used goo.gl

but y'all seem like programming wizards. for example. we click a button to upload a picture, and your page somehow grabs that picture, uploads it to imgur (im assuming for space, which makes sense), and then posts it in the thread. so that made me realize that y'all have programming performing steps behind the scenes

i figured that when we click the "tweet" button, you might be able to figure out a way to take the code from the page to goo.gl (or bitly) and then populate the tweet on twitter with that shortened code

bc the meanies on this website aren't going to actually take the time (especially if they are on a phone) to grab the url, go switch it, then come back and edit the tweet. they are just going to think, "fuck it, i cant fit the tweet" and not send it

this is small beans. figured id throw it out there as food for thought. thats all =)

Curious, do you guys ISP check new members?

Seems some questionable accounts lately.

Unless that's part of the shtick.

All signsups are run through a spam filter that flags them for approval is a combination of certain checks come back positive.

Beyond that, duplicate accounts are flagged and I am notified.

There is always a way to circumvent things that I won't fully expand on, but if something is suspicious I can do further manual checks.

Hey y'all,

is there an easier way to upload pics from say your phone other than using the image website thing like imgur.com?

Thanks!

Under the post reply button where it says "remote upload images", it doesn't really mean that. If you click add images, you get the file chooser on your phone (or you can select camera).

I believe only the one in the post-editing toolbar does the remote upload from another website.
