I gained some weight over the last couple of weeks. My mom passed away and I let my diet go to shit and while I did my weight lifting I skipped most of my cardio. So I decided to roll with it and add some weight.

For the last two weeks I am skipped most of my cardio (a couple fast walks/slow jogs is most I have done, ate like crap (no sweets or anything like that but eating stuff like pizza and burgers) and just lifted weights.

The problem is my weight is slowly going DOWN while my bodyfat shoots up.



I realize that the best way to do this would to still eat clean and just eat much more but I dont understand why I am losing weight.

Not sure if I am looking for advice or just venting.

You're basically past the point of no return when it comes to height. You will always look a bit goofy. That's ok though.

I know logically speaking that I should give it at least a month or two before I decide this is not working but I already notice a difference in my stomach and am starting to feel self conscious about it.

Well first I can't begin to say how sorry I am about your loss. Secondly you're under a great deal of stress which has probably got your cortisol levels all out of wack. What I would do is just start training one body part a week, make sure you rest, eat well and also focus on getting in good fats keep good carbs moderately high.

Pitbull9 @Pitbull3744 rightly identifies a need to shift hormone profile.
That can see done with sleep, diet, and working out. Use all three to your advantage.

Mass gainer bro. Switch from the low calorie whey protien. But if you take these shakes and dont work out like a beast, like you say you do. You may end up about tree fiddy. This was a sample given to me that I have lying around. Im happy with my 190lbs (im only 5'11) so I stick to Gold Standard Whey. There are of course, other manufacturers.

Unrelated, but this reminded me of a funny story...

About 10 years ago i went to The Arnolds - a huge fitness event in Columbus, Ohio. I was walking around the Expo where supplement companies had booths set up with hotties giving away free samples so I was loading up.

A couple weeks later I was about to lift, remembered my goody bag and I decided to take one of the pre-workout samples.

Holy. Fucking. Shit. I don't know what was in that stuff but I thought my heart was going to explode out of my chest. I was foaming at the mouth, jittery as shit, lifting crazy weights and pacing all over my basement between sets just mashing to Pantera.

I have high BP anyway, so I'm probably lucky it didn't kill me. I could literally feel the blood pumping through my veins. Fuck that shit man. I will stick to my protein shakes.

I know exactly what you mean. Ive had a few samples induce crazy anxiety. I usually give the samples away. Everytime i go to a nutrition store i leave with about a dozen samples. The one by my house must not get much traffic cuz i leave with a mixing cup and a bag full of samples everytime I walk in.

It is very hard for me to not do something every day. This last week or two of just lifting weights 3 times a week sucked so much for me I snuck in some fast walks/slow jogs into some of the rest days.
