The ratings for the UFC 210 prelims on FS1, prior to the Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony "Rumble" Johnson pay-per-view card, did 723,000 viewers, the lowest of the three such events so far this year.

The viewership was also lower than all but one of the pay-per-view prelims of 2016. The only show last year that did a lower number was the prelims before UFC 204, the Michael Bisping vs. Dan Henderson middleweight title fight. That show did 678,000 viewers going against a number of college football games as well as the Major League Baseball playoffs.

This number came on a night of light sports competition. ESPN aired college hockey head-to-head that did 467,000 viewers, which meant FS1 was the top-rated sports station in prime time.

A lot of this is a direct result of me not watching due to the diabolical state of the parking in IschKabibble @IschKabibble 's town.....

I was actually thinking about the ufc model from a different perspective..the only things I watch nowadays are the prelims..I'm having a hard time staying awake for PPVs and I'd imagine the timING of it alienates a lot of east coast cats who don't even try to follow the sport because of it....

A lot of people saying Bellators numbers for their last event is because they're a second rate organization. I'm wondering if it's more a case of MMA losing traction as a whole?

To be fair, there wasn't a lot of name recognition on those prelims. The prelim main event was between a guy who hadn't fought in almost a year and a half coming off two losses, and a guy who was 2-3 (1 NC) in his strange UFC career.

The other fight they advertised was Usman, and let's be honest he's not setting the world on fire with his performances.

So, I get it. People weren't clamoring for the 210 card, I opted out of attending it because it looked underwhelming and I was glad I didn't go. The PPV buys probably won't be that great, I'd guess maybe 300k if they're lucky. DC's last headlined PPV, 192 with Gus vs DC, did 250k buys. 187 with two belts on the line did 375k.

It's not like the very next PPV FS1 prelims coming, where their prelim main event is friggin Eddie Alvarez vs Dustin Poirier.

I feel like Bellator is drawing in the old school Pride FC vs UFC Era fans. It's good competition. I actually liked 210 but it looks like if UFC doesn’t have any of their stars they may as well keep it on tv and maybe a little early.
