Writtens? Pac.

Freestyle? Big.

Pac had the better body of work overall. His albums and MANY of his singles are leagues ahead of Big's stuff.

It's still mind-blowing to think that both men were in there early 20's when they died. They had a MASSIVE impact on the music world for such youngsters.

In a way, and I don't mean to sound horrible, but could you imagine if they were both around now? They'd be doing duets with that screaming banshee Katy Perry!

Pac is a monster of an mc though. Seriously, that dude is top 5 easy.

Pac was an angry ballerina and is the default go-to for white people that wanna pretend they were in on the rap scene in the 90's. There were much better options back then though... KRS-One, Jedi Mind Tricks, Organized Konfusion, Pharoahe Monch alone, etc.

Lyrically NONE OF THE ABOVE are on Pac's level. KRS One? Are you for real?

Nas, Raekwon, Redman, Big L, Big Pun - those guys were on Pac's level. KRS One is well below them.

They were both great, loved listening to both of them growing up:

2pac:

Keep ya Head Up
Dear Mama
All Eyez on Me
Hail Marry
Hit em up
Bomb First
How do you Want it
Me Against the World
To Live and Die in LA
Are you Still down - Feat Jon B
Thug Luv - feat Bone Thugs
Redemption - guitar
Wonder why they call you bitch
Against all odds

...just to name some of my favorites from 2pac

Notorious B.I.G
Juicy
One More Chance
Big Poppa
Da B Side feat Da Brat
Fucking you tonight feat R Kelly
Only You - 112 / Mase
Hypnotize
I Love the Dough feat Jay Z
Mo Money Mo Problems
Notorious Thugs - feat Bone Thugs
Going back to Cali
Skys the Limit

..just to name some of my favorites from Biggie.

But why not appreciate them both and let them be remembered forever for their talents and their epic collaboration before the media beef.

Original version these two did prior to both blowing up and getting famous.

Also just days before being shot in Vegas, 2pac spoke his mind on the whole East Coast Vs. West Coast beef at the MTV Video Music Awards...just listen to what he says ...Pac was being very honest in this interview and really exposed the media for what it is.

Pac...Its funny too me when ppl say Pac wasn't "lyrical"...G.O.A.T
Anyone who says he wasn't lyrical is a fool who knows nothing about the Rap game.... 2pac was a lyrical mastermind ...pretty much most rappers who came out post 2000 mimicked 2pac and would even steal his lyrics *cough ..Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj....even Jay Z who 2pac despised ripped 2pac off by stealing 2pacs hit "Me and my Girlfriend" ..changing the name to "Bonnie and Clyde" and having his wife Beyonce featured on the track.

2pac was deep! His lyrical content had meaning / substance.... that is why his songs resonated with the listeners back in the 90's and even to this day.

2pac was able to express his life lessons through his music and deliver his message in his lyrics ...that's what made him so great and why his songs stay relevant as time passes.

Exactly..ppl that don't like him can dislike him on preference but it's ignorant to discredit the guy..

Where is the 'rap sucks, always has, always will and will never be a credible artform as its nothing more than a bastardization of the English language" option?
Kid Rock, Beastie Boys, Eminem. In that order.

Ice Cube > Tupac

Sorry, it's true.

But someone else said it.
Tupac on paper, Biggie freestyle.

Cube was better than both because he could do both without resorting to sentiment.
His abstract range was wider, and did his own cuts many times.
Tupac had better production and music, and appeals to a much wider audience.
Biggie appealed to a time period and demographic much like how Jay-Z did.
A knowledgeable East Coast hip-hop fanbase with street cred.

Ice cube is badass. Him big and bad are my top 3. Then tupac and Eminem.

Although for skills I think Eminem nails them all. Easy. I just prefer the others work.

And lets mention twista .

I liked the kamikaze album. Its worth checking out

Personally I think born again is the goat album. Although I think the one in my car I chopped a couple out and put in gimme the loot and some other songs.

I'm a big 2Pac fan as well, troublesome 96 is badass. Same with many songs from each album.

Biggie defo has cooler t shirts tho

No one is claiming he wasn't a great poet and storyteller. I just get put off by the whole gangster front when his talents came from attending the 127th Street Ensemble and Baltimore School for the Arts. Great poet and storyteller....fake gangster.

And then he decided he was the hardest on the block, when gangster rap was starting to become the new thing

Cube is on the same level as Guru, IMHO. Lyrically they never hot the next level, it was stuff like "my cat... had a hat... it was skinny, not fat..."

Elementary leve, IMHO. Pac is miles ahead of him, literally.

There's tiers to this game.

Em, Nas, Pac, Big, Redman, Raekwon, Rakim, Big L, Pun, JZ >>>> Guru, Cube, Method Man, RCA etc.
