As the farce/marketing stunt of this fight really happening continues on with gusto I became curious what my fellow MMA enthusiast brothers and sisters thought of this boxing match. To be perfectly honestly, I would much prefer a PRIDE+Elbows ruleset and watching Conor get his head knocked off by a far superior boxer doesn't appeal to me much.

WHAT SAY YOU???

It is the most fair way to do it, if elbows and additional MMA rules were implemented it would go down like Couture VS Tony.

That said, still don't want to watch it

I'd rather see him in any MMA fight but if the Mayweather fight happens I'm watching.

Would vote for or against it.

How is that "fair" though? It like saying that they should get rid of the forward pass because Tom Brady is too good at it.

Because Conor uses boxing in his MMA fights but Floyd doesn't use elbows or clinching in a boxing match like Conor would use in an MMA. It's kind of common ground they have come to

I see where you are coming from. I guess I just look at boxers as very incomplete martial artists. Would you make that same assessment if Conor was looking to fight a Tae Kwon Do champ who doesn't throw punches?

I agree that I would rather see him fighting MMArtists in MMA fights.
I get it from his side but to me it's very telling the state of MMA still. Too bad a guy as talented as Conor has to resort to other sports to get the money and game he wants.

Yeah. I am not much of a fan of the inmates running the asylum as with boxing, but the constant comparisons to boxing with that sport having the upper hand all the time are extremely annoying...

That would be wiiiiild to watch! I would watch that one LOL! And yeah i'm sure some agreement would need to be reached in order for the TKD fighter to accept.

and that's why i don't enjoy watching boxing.

I want to see it. McGregor will get his brains beat in, but it will be interesting. I'm more interested in the whole spectacle than the actual fight. I'm also interested in hearing what McGregor will say afterwards. I'm sure he has his challenge to "come fight me in my sport!" all planned out while he stands there all fucked up with two black eyes.

No.

Floyd's fights in the last years are usually pretty boring unless you're really in the mood for watching an ultimate technical display with next to no action. Plus there is no logical reason at all for this "fight" to happen. It would be a straight up shitshow/media circus and a lot of mma fans would leave incredibly disappointed with the lack of blood.

If McGregor gets stretched out though, that will be exciting. Halfway out through the ropes, mouthpiece on the floor of the ring. I don't see why Mayweather wouldn't go for this after he figures out for sure that he can.

The thing that gets me is that Conor goes to the best boxer of all time, challenges him to a boxing match claiming that he can beat him in his sport.... And Conor fan boys are crying saying "it's not fair that Conor can't kick or throw elbows, he should be allowed to".

Conor challenged Floyd to a boxing match (which Floyd will beat him with relative ease), it wasn't Floyd who offered. Conor is trying to make the name and money that Floyd has made, Floyd's already got it..... If this match happens, it's a boxing match, and challenging the best boxer ever when you've never boxed.... You're going to get yourself hurt.

There's no point to this circus, but it does happen, I'll definitely watch it.
