It has been two weeks since Daniel Cormier (19-1) successfully defended his title for the second time against Anthony Johnson at UFC 210. Right after the fight, he immediately directed his attention towards both Jon Jones (22-1) and Jimi Manuwa (17-2).

While Jones is unsurprisingly his main target, Manuwa was placed in the picture in case “Bones” was not ready to face “DC” in July. But by the looks of things, it seems like the UFC will be booking the much-awaited 205-pound title grudge rematch.

Per a report by MMA Fighting on Thursday, multiple sources have claimed that the company is looking to book Cormier-Jones 2 for UFC 214 on July 29th. It has not been made clear, however, if the said fight will…

tainted legacy Jon will be interesting to see...hope he keeps partying so doubt doesn't creep in

DC is a freaking beast...Not many fighters keep composure after that smashed nose he got vs Rumble..he is still hungry

I'm not as confident in Jones this go-round, for a multitude of obvious reasons. With that said, I believe he will submit DC in this fight. He will be more grappling heavy in this second part of his career, but honestly with his physical gifts I don't know how DC wins aside from knocking him out. If there's one thing Jon Jones knows how to do, it's figuring out a way to exploit his opponents and win a decision if he can't dominate them. Unless we see a completely diminished Jones and the last two years have really gotten to his ego and removed his killer instinct (which is entirely possible), I think he beats DC and doesn't lose at LHW for another extended period of time.

I hear what you're saying, however playing devil's advocate here, while DC staying composed was great, I feel it was made to look better because he was fighting a guy who truly was checked out in that fight. Had that been a hungry Rumble who loved to fight, DC may have been put out.

I'm interested to see how Jones' strength and cardio looks under USADA. He looked like shit against OSP.

I can see that

But I feel like that kick could have easily won the fight/belt if it lands on jaw...DCs little nose ate up the power LOL

Wonder if Rumble still retires? Still confused about that fight to be honest.

Crazy

Ya pretty odd to think that DC needs to win with strikes..but I agree.

Unless Jon loses his amazing cardio, I think JJ still controls the grappling with his wrist control and fence control

Yeah, it does sound weird to say. I don't think I've seen anybody overwhelm people like Jon does, and from what I have heard his training has been very jiu jitsu heavy. His fence work is the best I've seen, and once he gets your back on the fence he will take you down whenever he wants to. I doubt we see him want to make this a kickboxing match, and DC undoubtedly has the most power on the feet aside from possibly Jon's body kicks. Either way this is going to be a really interesting fight. If Jones can go through everything he's gone through since the last DC fight and still come out and beat him, I think his only losses are at heavyweight and even there I don't hate his odds of becoming a champion. Heavyweights are heavier but not necessarily longer than light heavyweights. I just want him to stop being an idiot and get back to fighting. I don't care if he smokes weed, but he's just gotta stop being such a scumbag.

Let me ask you this- if Jones beats DC and continues his dominance until his mid thirties or so without getting suspended again would you consider him redeemed? I'm not saying it's likely, but in the event that he stays out of trouble is there a chance for him to be seen positively as a person and athlete in your eyes?

I dislike eyepokes and self proclaimed snitches who later are shown to be very hypocritical

But keep running your mouth if it makes you feel good

Let Jon take care of Jon...I doubt he wants or needs your help

You get offended at well made points regarding your Idol in the year 2017...and your only response is to post about a fight from 2011

His strength and cardio looked fine against OSP. It was his timing and movement selection that looked like shit.
