It is no secret that UFC president Dana Whiteis a man passionate about the sport of mixed martial arts. In 2001, White, along with childhood friends Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta put all their money in to purchase the struggling company from then owner Semaphore Entertainment Group (SEG).

The UFC did skyrocket into mainstream recognition in its 15 years under the Fertittas and Zuffa LLC. In July of 2016, the company was sold to WME for $4 billion, in which White reportedly made $360 million. Yet despite his monetary success among others, the brash UFC executive says it is the last thing on his mind.

"White, along with childhood friends Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta put all their money"

1. I could be wrong, but I don't think Dana put up any money to initially purchase the UFC. I thought Dana received 10% of the company as part of his deal to run the UFC.
2. Even after the purchase and the shitload of money the Fertitta's dump into it....it's not even close to "all their money".

Dana has never seemed like the kind of guy who would do something just for the money. Oh, wait, nevermind...

Honestly, I believe him. Dana genuinely fell in love with MMA once upon a time.

But capitalism corrupts.

This. There was a time that he cared about the fighters, and was in the sport for the right reasons. That time passed a long time ago. Money, Power, Ego corrupts people.

Yeah exactly. No way when he was first involved with the UFC he could have imagined how insanely big and fast it would take off. The first years of his involvement he wasn't making nearly the cash he is now. But he lost himself along the way

Cared about the fighters? You mean the ones he was managing for money?

He spoke to the Fertittas about buying the company because of the potential money the business could make. Everything was always about the money.
