I'd like to see him rematch Werdum or face Arlovski, but Cain took something from him in those fights and he just hasn't been the same ever since. And he needs to start using those kicks, man! His hands are his downfall now as he loves Boxing so much.

The effects of the Cain fight took a while, but they're showing. The old Junior wouldn't have let himself get backed up into the fence and tee'd off on repeatedly.

He has clearly lost a step or two, but he's still capable of beating 90% of the heavyweights out there.

im trying to figure out what happened to that fight IQ....listen, getting backed up into the cage is one thing...constantly trying to circle out without pawing out some jabs or throwing some straights against a fucking heavyweight throwing hooks and bombs at you....i mean i cant explain it. watch it again, every time he got backed into the cage there wasnt a single attempt to jab to keep stipe at bay, and that was the beginning of the end.

at one point during the fight i told my girlfriend "what the fuck did JDS see on tape that he just wont fucking jab...holy shit! throw some fucking jabs out there and try to circle away from the cage....annnnd knocked out"

JDS did everything that lost him the two Cain fights and nearly lost him the first fight with Stipe, in addition to looking older and fighting less aggressively. Stipe, on the other hand, watched the tapes, drew up a game plan, and executed it perfectly. He was the better, smarter fighter last night. The heavyweight division is in an awkward phase currently, with fighters either being very old or very young (inexperienced).

Id say stay in the sport, if Weidman and others that get their ass kicked on a regualr basis stays then Id say JDS should as well

This. It's one thing to lose the fight, it's another to just get straight up smoked and do nothing and just back up into the fence all fivht

Yeah, the Cain fights are what fucked him up. If he had been torched in the first round in each of them, that would have been better than losing two 5-round brutal wars. He's the HW post-prime Chuck Liddell now. Just doesn't have it. Retire or make preparations for a TBI lifestyle once retirement is forced.

I guess it depends on where he is mentally and financially. He is in that awkward phase that Arlovski was in a while back. Where he was better than a lot but not anywhere near a legit contender. So if JDS is ok playing that, then let him cash in a couple more paydays. However soon the day will likely come where he is just walking out there and when he get hit clean to any degree it's over. Just like Arlovski's last few fights.

In summation he probably has a 2-3 more years of being really good but not champion level before age and experience catch up with him and he is an easy KO.

I always thought that one of the biggest mistakes the ufc has done in past years was to rush Cain vs JDS III so fast. looks like those fights drained both guys and nothing was gained with that third fight.

If he's chasing championships, retire.... If he's chasing paychecks, stay in and have some good fights with the #5-#10 ranked guys.

At this point, I'd say that he's probably the 4th best HW behind Stipe, Cain, and Fabricio... And I know it defies logic a little, but I'd rank him ahead of Overeem (even though Alistair beat him). I could see him playing gatekeeper, but I don't want to see him KOing top contenders (ruining title shots), or even worse, ending his career getting KOed by top contenders (oh the CTE)

I can't see this fight happening... I feel that Stipe, Cain, and Werdum are going to be in a 3 person dance for the title for the next year... If Cain beats Stipe, then Werdum will be there to fight Cain.... Stipe wins, I say they make Werdum/Ngannou as a number 1 contender. I can't see them allowing JDS in the title picture.

I see it the other way around. Cain will get beat by both Werdum and Stipe.

Stipe does everything cain does but better, Werdum is more well rounded. Junior is a horrible match for Werdum, though.

Yes! For a guy who is obsessed with Boxing, his is pretty poor. His hands are NEVER up, no head movement, no body punching...

Junior should DRILL LIKE A MAD MAN the defensive side of the game in the states with a top tier trainer like a Mayweather.

He should also get his Kickboxing game going again as it's CRAZY when he uses it.

He should continue to fight if he has the desire, but he should also acknowledge that the most devastating loss he's had was to USADA. He isn't close to being the fighter he was prior to their involvement in the sport. So if he's content with being a guy that's going to be ranked in that 5-10 range, and losing a few fights here and there...go for it.
