He will need to beat Jones twice to enter that discussion. Maybe if he completely twomps Jones he can skip ahead but that isn't very likely now is it.
The only thing that makes this fight interesting, the first was very one sided imo, is i have no idea what Jon Jones to expect. We haven't seen much of him post USADA. And maybe he'll just never have the same confidence in the cage without the cocaine coursing through his system?

But the OP is assuming that DC wins the hematch. Rewatch the first fight. Jones won but it wasn't a blow out and nobody looked like an idiot. Those are the top 2 LHW we've ever had it's just that Jon's is better.
I'd say it would make DC one of the greats, but not greatest of all time quite yet. Imo I save that title for retirement or when the fighter gets to a point in their career that's obviously on another level like GSP or Jon.

If the same jones that beat osp shows up then there is a chance that dc could pull it off. But he would still be fighting a uphill battle. Just thinking of a 72 to 84 in reach advantage makes me shudder.
DC wouldnt be in GOAT discussion in my household but hes still amazing for a chubby middleweight and if he started his career sooner i think he could def be in the talks for GOAT. I like his chances against guys like stipe jds werdum so its conceivable he could have been a 2 weight champ.

He's already done that...in an organization that had the best HW division in the world at the time.
I was a bigger fan for before but I still thinks he's a great fighter. At his level there's no easy fights really so smart game planning is crucial. To expect one of the shortest guys (height and reach) with some of the best wrestling to stand and wang is crazy.
I hate LNP as much as the next guy but the dude on the bottom is just as equal if not more to blame. Figure out how to get up and stop giving up dominant positioning and it won't be a boring fight.
He's a total badass, a great commentator, a family man, and funny as shit. The majority of people that hate him are Jones nuthuggers and there's no reasoning with fanboys. It's impossible. They are incapable of giving credit to anyone but their guy.
