Fucking cell phones.
I snapped a couple quick pics and that was that. Sat there thinking, "I want to remember this!". Just looked around at this enormous stadium, fire, the sound, etc. Thought how much crazier moscow 1991 would be, and this was nuts:

Then looked down to the girl in front of me that actually PERISCOPED THE ENTIRE CONCERT. She just sat there, shitty vertical video and all, ruining her own memories to send that out to people that don't give a damn about her. what?!?

Fuck yeah take a few pics of the concert then put the phone the fuck away. Enjoy your life don't document your every move. I just don't get why people need others to know that they're having fun in order to actually have fun (and in the case of the periscope girl maybe not even enjoying it herself).

Fallacy of "recording = saving the memory".
You are detached from the experience and your brain actually does not capture that memory for all the obvious reasons, as well as the extra ways your limbic system works incorporating stimuli like smells and memories, etc.
You'll put that memory in the short term and your memory will be what only what you imprint watching the video over and over.

The experience of the bass rumble, the smells, the heat on the side of your face, the excitement you felt in that moment being part of something that mattered to you will not be there. And with it, the memory will be stored less strongly and less clearly. It simple wasn't as valuable because you made it less valuable being so focused on the phone.

@Splinty I don't get the whole recording the whole bloody concert thing. I get that it's nice to get a couple solid pics and maybe a short his of your jam.

Be in the moment and enjoy it. Nobody cares about your shitty quality cell phone vid that'll get you half a dozen hits on youtube.

Hop you enjoyed the show. GnR is coming to Edmonton at the end of August, hoping to make it. OLP is opening for them, they always put on a good show.

I have to say OLP opening for GnR is something I never thought I'd see. A well mannered Canadian radio light rock band (they are great don't get me wrong) opening for one of the biggest, dirtiest and douchiest bands of all time. Clumsy combination.

Sadly I don't think I'm gonna make it unless the wife buys me tickets for fathers day.
Cheapest tickets for nosebleeds are about $85 bills and no way am I travelling up to Edmonton for shit seats. If I'm going to GnR I'm going in style.

Side note I got tickets to the stampede shakedown with Trooper, Tom Cochrane and Sloan. Seen Trooper a few times but Tom Cochrane has always been on my list to must see. Has a great catalogue of music.
