“This fight is happening because everybody on the business side knows that it makes sense,” said Coker, who is promoting his own big fight card June 24 at Madison Square Garden, dubbed Bellator NYC. “There are other fighters in MMA that feel like they might have that kind of drawing power, but maybe they really don’t. I think it’ll be quickly unmasked. Either people care or they don’t and that’s what it really comes down to for me when it comes to fights.”

While he has plenty of questions about the future after this for McGregor and the UFC, Coker can’t help but be attracted to the spectacle. He’s a huge combat sports fan and does not prescribe to the notion that Mayweather vs. McGregor would be damaging to either sport.

“Any time Mayweather fights, the circus is in town, man,” Coker said. “It’s gonna be a big, big promotion. And Conor he can carry his own on the mic. The whole campaign leading up to the event is gonna be more entertaining than the fight.”

It’s something a huge combat sports fan like Coker couldn't possibly resist, even if the inevitable outcome is obvious.

“I can’t wait to see it,” Coker said. “I want to see it. I’m gonna fly there and watch it live.”

Scott Coker unsure of Mayweather vs. McGregor impact on UFC: ‘You’re putting your fighter in harm’s way’

I just can't wait for Conor to try and smack talk Mayweather lmao. Every time Conor tries to insult Floyd he should burn a stack of $100's and laugh at him

I don't see any way the UFC wins with this fight. Either Conor pulls off the miracle and never returns to MMA, or he loses and comes back devalued.

In my opinion, they're banking on a few things.
Firstly, this fight will make them a lot of money. Likely as much as a few Conor UFC PPVs.

Conor will get to show his charisma on the mic, which is valuable since the UFC wants to show that they're more entertaining than boxing.

Millions more people will be exposed to a UFC fighter, and while the fight may end badly for Conor, it's not likely to make any UFC fans stop being UFC fans and it could still bring more eyes to the UFC in the future. Remember- Conor is hyping this fight by saying things like "We'll fight under limited rules to keep you alive". He is pushing MMA as real fighting and boxing as a limited version of that. I think this is one of the more important parts.

Nearly everybody already expects Conor to lose, and that is even more true when it comes to non-MMA fans. There are only a few ways for Conor to lose that will actually be worse than the expectations of most. This is why it's important that if they are going to do the MMA vs Boxing boxing match, they have to do it against an arguable GOAT. The best of the best of boxing haven't been able to touch Floyd, so why would it be such an indictment on MMA if the same happens to Conor? I don't think anybody's gonna say "HAHA HE'S NOT EVEN AS GOOD AS CANELO ALVAREZ!"

Basically, I'm not sure what scenario could come up where it ultimately really hurts the UFC in a big, measurable way. I don't 100% deny the idea that it could happen, but I don't think the situation is nearly as dangerous as you've presented it.

Btw I thought Coker would feel obligated to shit on this fight, and it's a pleasant surprise that he didn't. If Bellator had done this, you better believe Dana would be calling it a circus and mocking it with every chance he got.

Another reason Scott Coker is greater than Dana.

Coker nailed it with that. I can't wait to see Conor and Mayweather jawing with each other.

I really don't see how losing a boxing match will devalue McGregor in MMA. It's like a UFC champion going to compete in a Jiu Jitsu tournament and losing. It takes nothing away from their MMA acccomplishments.

Millions of people won't be watching that jiu jitsu match, then talking about it for weeks afterwards.

I think most sports fans in America know what the UFC is. Conor is a 2 division champion. Everyone will realize that he may lose to Floyd at just boxing but if other facets of MMA were at play Conor would kill Floyd. I don't see how Conor stepping into another man's arena will hurt him at all with the public. They will almost all acknowledge that it was just boxing and not close to a true fight like MMA would be. I think many people will recognize that at least Conor had the cajones to challenge himself. Plus he will make a nice stack of cash.

You're giving people too much credit. Listen to the guys at ESPN talk about mixed martial arts and tell me that they really understand the sport.

Flat earth theory. Creationists. Donald Trump is president. People can EASILY be that stupid about Mayweather beating McGregor being proof that boxing is better.

Let's be honest. This contest will sell because of white people wanting Connor and black people wanting Mayweather. No offense whiteys, but Conor ain't gonna win a boxing match with the best ever (skill- wise) boxer. But, he's smart enough to make a lot of money on you guys. Don't worry, he'll do something to get dq'd and make you feel a little better. Are their any black mma guys who think conor has a chance? probably an uncle tom somewhere.

Something tells me that part of his deal with the ufc allowing this is that he has to fight one more time in the ufc before riding off into the sunset.

I can't say for sure who's going to win considering that it's all being done for pure entertainment and it's not a real fight. Well, here are predictions by some top MMA fighters and boxers who have different opinions and thorough analysis of how the fight would go down reviewsdir.com/watch-conor-mcgregor-vs-floyd-mayweather-fight-online But I personally think that Conor wouldn't survive much. Floyd would be dominating the fight all the way.
