Hi everyone,

It's been a minute since I've visited but I would like to share the below piece that I felt obiliged to write R.E Cris Weidman and his main-event vs. Kelvin Gastelum later in the month:

Once More Unto The Breach – Chris Weidman Rolls Dice on UFC Career - MMASucka.com

I'd really appreciate any feedback or critique on the writing.

Thanks and best wishes to all,

Jon
I only read a single paragraph and skimmed the rest. It looks great to me. You have a bright future in journalism ahead of you. Sorry, but I'm drunk right now, and also sometimes have the attention span of a gnat. I tried though. If you want to paypal me a few buck for this honest review, let me know.

The article was very well written, nice job!

However, I have a completely different take on Chris. In my opinion, he's one of the most over rated fighters ever. Was lucky enough to get a title fight with the GOAT before he probably deserved it. Landed a lucky punch to win that one. Andy's left fell off in the rematch (although I concede he was beating Andy's ass). Beat a delayed Vitor and got whooped badly by Luke. Maybe it's my hatred for all things east coast, but I never really understood all the hype behind him. If he wasn't a victim of being over hyped, perhaps he's another victim of USADA. Either way, I don't see him getting by Gastelum.

i hate to agree, but in a way i do. however, he fucked anderton up and i was rooting for anderton in the second fight but it was one of those "i hope he doesn't get finished quickly" type of events.
vitor doesn't count as he was and is basically a blow your load type and hope for the best or not do shit and hope for a decision. he's not who he was.
chris did not do well against mousasi and i can't explain that and we'll see with gastelum, but gastelum is just not who you want to fight if you need a win....................................chris has struggled lately

The article was well written, but it appears you think he should be protected instead of fighting top tier competition. I disagree with this, at least if he doesn't want to slip in ranking. He certainly isn't moving up the ladder by fighting lesser opponents, and as a former champion, I'd like to think he wants to move forward instead of back. I don't see how a win over #33 raked camozzi would even help him keep his current ranking.

Sincere thanks for the insight, humorous and otherwise. :)

I think, as a booking policy, big names should be eased back into the mix rather than allow for the possibility of their downfall. Maybe I'm looking at it from the wrong perspective and should just allow nature to take its course. I appreciate your insight very much though - thank you!

agree weidman was a big slow TOUGH guy w/very good grappling, good (not great wrestling) and an approach to striking that was dependent on his length size and durability...

who we see now is who he is and unfortunately for him its not worldclass

Momentum matters in this sport. Chris is badly in need of some. I think he would have benefitted from a tune up.

said it on my podcast he made the same mistake chuck liddel anthony pettis made instead of fighting a lower level opponent and slowly installing diff tech, strategy; they kept jumping in versus the best where they had no room for error and even less room to improve on a tech/strategical level.
