I disagree here. The fighters choose to do it. They choose how they eat, how they train, how they lose weight, and how they decide which class they fight in. They choose to kills themselves to try to gain an edge even though several fighters have had a significant success by moving up and being the faster fighter instead of the bigger fighter.
I refuse to place the blame on the sport and absolve the fighter. It's terrible that the sport having to try to put regulations in place to save fighters from killing themselves via weight cut. I'm just not sympathetic in these situations. If I do a ton of speed to stay awake to get my job done but it causes a heart attack then that's entirely on me, not on the demands of my job.
