After tonight, I dont think he would have. I just don't think he has the gas tank for 5 round fights, and Bisping would be in and out, pointing him to death. What do you all think?

Bisping's held the belt for over a year and has yet to defend it against anyone in the top ten, so this thread is almost beyond hypothetical.

not to mention his decision over henderson in the UK was alittle suspect

I think Romero would've jacked Bisping.
So will Whitaker, Mousasi, Jacare....Rockhold rematch...who am I missing?

Bisping can jab a guy, sure.
But Whitaker is FAR better at getting inside, utilizing kicks to the body, combo's, staying dangerous through transitions...
It was his aggressiveness throughout range and counters that had Romero thinking twice on counters, where he would've leveled Bisping.
That, and Whitaker's tdd study has progressed, I dare say, to beyond Bisping's at any point.

Bisping doesn't lunge into effective power shots up the middle.

Maybe. Yoel's explosiveness was nullified by Whittaker's footwork and quickness.

Bisping definitely isn't as quick as Whittaker, but is his footwork good enough?

I'm not sure.

Nope. Bisping is an underrated fighter. His TDD is good he would have boxed Romero up I think. Whittaker vs Bisping will also be good but I got bisping taking this by tko

Yes he would beat him half to death.

I missed the fight unfortunately...fell asleep after that dud of a comain...and as predicted due to Schevchenko-Nunes not happening my boy was on later.
Yoel was saying he didn't want to make a big deal about things, he didn't want to make noise or steal the show..he wanted to fly under the radar. Then they put him in a main event- I think that probably fucked with him somewhat. I am about to watch it now..I expect it will be very frustrating.

IMHO Yoel losing was the worst case scenario for the UFC. Whittacker isn't/aint gonna be very marketable because he's such a nice guy..I am happy for him but he will most likely lose to Bisping and so instead of getting built up he is rushed to the big stage to lose. I do not know why the UFC don't like Yoel, but they lost a huge fucking chance in selling Romero (one of the most intimidating fighters on the roster) to the public- AT ALL. Also, Whittacker-Bisping trashtalk is gonna be puke-worthy. I want to see Yoel make Bisping remember Germany.

Nope, Bisping would get fucked up by guys like Weidman f.e. Yoel is that x100, he'll wreck him.. Out of the two Bisping has a better shot against Whittacker- in a points match maybe Bisping could edge it, but it is pretty much how long he can cheat death for vs either Yoel or Bobby.

Bisping would do what Bisping does... He'd nearly get finished by Yoel early and somehow manage to survive and then jab and jog and sprawl his way to a decision win. If Bisping wasn't so good at getting back to his feet then it could end in a very ugly way like Romero/Machida did but somehow Bisping would find a way. I can't believe I'm saying that hahah

Bisping does not survive Romero's onslaught like Whitaker.

Bisping's TD is good, but you only have to watch his fight with my old mate Tim Kennedy to see that Romero probably wouldn't have much trouble getting him down and keeping him down.

I really enjoyed that Whittaker vs. Romero fight. The takedown defense and the offense was excellent. What stood out to me in that fight was Whittaker's careful approach. Listening to the commentators, I heard Romero's team was looking at every opportunity where they could take Whittaker down according to his habits. In the fight, Romero wanted to time his chance to take him down but Whittaker kept throwing out feints. The feints would bait Romero to expend energy trying to shoot far out of range, or it would dull his senses from fake attacks that wouldn't come. Whittaker would use those moments to attack off the feints. If you go back to re-watch the fight, you'll notice he almost always feints before going on the attack.

That being said, Romero could end anyone at any point. I never count him out because i've seen him lose the technical battle on the feet only to come back with a nicely placed shot. Bisping has many similar tools to Whittaker like the feints he used against Anderson silva. Bisping doesn't typically mix up his wrestling, making him far less susceptible to Romero's flying knee too. He also has a diverse kicking range that helped make a huge difference when he re-matched Dan Henderson. We saw Whittaker make good use of scoring From range with that snap kick against Romero. The only thing i'm unsure of is Bisping's takedown defense. I missed a lot of his pivotal fights against fighters who would threaten good takedowns, so i'm relatively uncertain if he could handle Yoel's takedown attempts. I think that's the most important aspect to consider. If you can nullify his wrestling (and his stool), the only thing left to contest with him is the striking.

Yeah makes one wonder huh? Robert could just be a horrible stylistic match up for him though
But damn Whittaker made him look so "human"..., Helluva scrap

I think Whittaker beats Bisping, but Bisping would decision Romero (especially in a 5 round fight).

It's fun to speculate. I personally think Romero would have beaten Bisping because he would have gone at him harder than he did Whittaker. Bisping doesn't have the power to hurt him that easily so he would have been more fearless.

Hopefully we can find out soon when Whittaker dethrones Bisping. We can then watch those two fight it out for a title shot.

i figured that's why Bisping was ripping up the Cuban flag and posturing at Yoel after the fight. The formula for beating Yoel is public, and Bisping wants no part of a 3 round fight with Yoel or any fight with Bobby Thunderfists.
