Mousasi vs Shlemenko set for Bellator 185

Gegard Mousasi has a date and opponent for his Bellator debut.

The Dutch fighter will be taking on former Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko at Bellator 185 on Oct. 20. The news was announced by the promotion during the broadcast of Friday’s Bellator 181.

This is fantastic both for fans and for Bellator. Goes a long way to validating Coker's "Strikeforce 2.0" statement. Which I think they are well on their way to attaining and hopefully surpassing.

Shlemenko hasn't lost since Halsey (which he avenged) and has only ever been knocked out once.

That being said, it's hard to imagine Mousasi starting his Bellator career with a loss. I got Mousasi by submission.

Yes Schlemenko is one of the smallest MWs I've ever seen (based on looks alone) and Mousasi is a former LHW champion/has fought at HW. I think he'll be able to bully Storm and finish him in the first.

I think people are seriously underestimating Storm.

Because of spinning danger & Schlemenko's unorthodox approach, I see Mousasi staying on the feet for at least the first round and into the second.
He might be the first guy to KO Storm in 8 years, but things can get dicey, NO ONE utilizes spinning shit better than Storm.
He is just so gawtdamn tricky, skilled, and tough.
But I see Mousasi keeping pace high with Alex and working a sub eventually on the ground.
But who knows?

Agreed. Mousasi should be a healthy favorite, but the level of dismissiveness for Alex is crazy. Dude is always dangerous. His body shots and spinning techniques could catch anyone. Mousasi is no exception.
