He basically fought the best fight he possibly could have against Alvey:

- could not strike more when clinching because he's old and with age cardio gradually decreases (every old guy on here that trains knows this). At the upper level of the division, everybody has solid cardio, and the likelihood that he gets matched against guys who wrestle poorly is low, since the UFC doesn't want to create fights for him where he blankets someone, since that is a crowd-unfriendly fight.

- could not strike freely because his chin isn't what it once was, and it was never exceptional at the start -- he doesn't believe in his chin, any more -- based on how he fought Alvey -- and has to fight strikers cautiously, like he did. He can't really pick apart top guys at distance because his best punches are looping ones, not straights.

The bottom line is he doesn't believe in his cardio enough to pressure confidently, and is too hesitant in terms of taking big shots to strike freely.

Those are qualities you don't want your fighter to have -- any fighter -- going into any match-up.

He could have some success outside the UFC, where he might be matched up better, but the outlook for him to get good match-ups and/or do even reasonably well in the UFC isn't good.

I didn't see the fight but at least it sounds like it wasn't hard to watch.

That seemed like a winnable fight for him if he would have been a little more aggressive. it's best he retire now and not wait until he takes some hard ko's.

If he does fight again it will be on the prelim card.

rashad is former champ.he lost to sam alvey.he has already dropped from a headliner to being first on the main card .there is no where else to go.he has a decent job with fox and rashad doesnt come across as a guy who foolishly wasted his money.it is time to call it a career and switch to the broadcast team or commentary desk full time.rashad doesnt deserve to be used as a stepping stone for new hungry up and comers or to be a prelim fighter .he should pack it in now and retire with dignity,he can still say he was a champ.he can still be part of the ufc broadcasts.fighting has passed him by.it is time to move on

He did not want to pull the trigger.
Didn't watch, but I already knew this. He is a prime candidate for a top notch sports psychologist. He's still athletic, moves well, fluid, great pedigree... but has demonstrated a mental block and inability to perform under the bright lights ever since jones.

He's kind of like a black Uriah Hall.
