Yes, how dare comic books reshape their characters to take into account a completely new demographic of readers.

Miles has been a popular character in his own right for a good few years now, he's paid his dues. I don't see the problem.

Marvel have multiple universes, it is entirely possible a different person becomes Spiderman in a different one. As long as this isn't in the main continuity, then I don't have a problem with it.

Well:
Morales has appeared as a version of Spider-Man in Marvel's offshoot Ultimate Spider-Man series since 2011, which is separate from Marvel's larger Spider-Man universe where Peter Parker is behind the mask. When the limited comic series Secret Wars ends this summer, however, Morales will re-emerge as the official Spider-Man on the page.

Bendis, the writer and co-creator of the new Spider-Man comics wants fans to know that Morales will indeed be the main superhero and no longer an alternate version of the web-slinger. "Our message has to be it’s not Spider-Man with an asterisk," Bendis told the Daily News, "it’s the real Spider-Man for kids of color, for adults of color and everybody else."

Nice. What made Spidey great was the fact that he was a teen super hero. He had to grow up sometime. Its ok for someone else to assume the mantle. Just like I add a bit of color to your lives, Miles has added a bit to the core super heroes of Marvel.

Create a new hero, stop ruining the ones we have.
You must not follow Spiderman, this story arc has been around for quite a while and is quite popular. It is hardly 'ruined'.

Saying that, I'm not a fan of teenage Reed Richards with no grey streaks either (via the new Fantastic Four movie), yet no one focuses on anything other than Johnny Storm. They even changed how they got their powers, and nobody has said anything about that....

All I'm saying is that race is the least of the shit Marvel has butchered in their franchises. Nothing is safe. Us old school guys who have read and followed since the beginning aren't being catered to anymore. Hell, the whole Dark Phoenix saga was covered in X-Men Last Stand by Phoenix spending 70% of the movie walking around a forest.

Peter Parker's comics have been absolutely abominable for the last few years. You can argue both figuratively and literally that it's like he's been replaced by a doppelganger of himself since about 2000 (if not before). From Gwen having sex with Norman to Aunt May getting shot to he and Mary Jane Mephistoing their marriage to Doc Ock Spidey, he's not the character I grew up with for sure. Ultimate Pete had much more fidelity to the character and Miles Morales was a worthy successor.

If you haven't read the Miles Morales Spider stories, I recommend them highly.

This reminds me of the outrage at a black James Bond. No one cared about changes to his hair colour, eye colour, accent or even the years he was supposedly active. But change his skin colour and everyone loses their minds (Joker gif).

That's my problem with some 'fans' nowadays. I have no problem with people who aren't big fans of radical changes, hell, I can't say I am either but it's for a WHOLE different reason. In a lot of cases these changes can affect the entire storyline and I grew up with the version that I liked already. I'm not saying I can't like another version but it's still a shock when a character you've followed for years suddenly changes every aspect of the story you knew. Ultron was created by Hank Pym's brain patterns, in the movie he's created entirely by Tony Stark. Blhhhh.....

Did you see what they did to Superman in this last movie? Flying dinosaurs on Krypton and Jonathan Kent getting swept up by a tornado like 10 feet from Superman? LMAO. Then he has a CGI Jor-El following him around for the majority of the movie. That's a REAL butchering, so at that point making Superman black is like blah stuff to me. You changed everything else might as well fuck it entirely. The new 52 is addressing all the DC comic changes but my guess is that when it's translated to the screen they'll change it again.

People who pop up after a race change pretty much label themselves. They aren't comic fans. Marvel/DC changes everything, so centering around one aspect of those changes is kinda goofy. The Spiderman storyline in comics has been going on since like 2011.

The only comic I've seen that stays mostly true to the story on paper and screen is 'The Watchmen'.
