Have A Death Wish? Texas police academy instructors are letting protesters know that any gun owner in Texas can use deadly force to stop vandalism, destruction, or the defacing of any monuments or statues in Texas.
“As a police officer and police academy instructor, I am posting this as a public service announcement.”
Texas Police Academy Instructor Phil Ryan warns all Antifa and BLM protesters, and anyone else interested in defacing their state statues, that if they bring their attitude to Texas, they could end up dead.

Ryan posted this warning to his Facebook page:

I was under the impression you weren't allowed to shoot someone unless it was in self-defence or defence of someone else. Is that not the case in Texas? @Splinty

Never been tested in court to my knowledge.
You can shoot for the above reasons as well as to recover your personal property (and apparently if you are assigned the same task by your neighbor for their property) that you do not reasonably you would be a able to recover otherwise.

Yes, I can legal shoot you while you drive out of my driveway with my car (no I wouldn't do that).

I can't imagine where this aligns to protect a public structure you havent been official tasked to defend.

So the owner of the statue can shoot someone vandalizing the statue, or is it anyone can shoot a criminal in Texas?

WACO, Texas (AP) — Authorities are investigating vandalism at a predominantly African-American church in Texas that included the use of ketchup and mustard to write "Satan" and the last name of President Donald Trump on its fellowship hall floor, in addition to the drawing of a swastika.

The Waco Tribune-Herald (Predominantly African-American church vandalized with Nazi, politically-charged symbols ) reports Willow Grove Baptist Church near Waco sustained $3,000 in damages. Pastor Kenneth McNeil called authorities after finding the damage Tuesday, which included bleach strewn over a choir room and hallway, removal of a door's deadbolt, ransacking of an office and a broken window. Nothing was stolen.

The church, home to about 30 members, was founded in 1871 by former slaves.

McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said says detectives have no information about the number of suspects or possible motivation.

So these people could shoot said vandals.

Buildings and a van outside the New Hope Baptist Church were spray-painted with racist graffiti.

The words and symbols are too graphic or vulgar to show.

Forty children enrolled in a summer camp here were exposed to it when they arrived this morning.

Racially charged messages and even a reference to the murder of Jordan Edwards were among the images Pastor Reginald Jefferson discovered when he arrived at his church Wednesday morning.

“I have no idea why anyone would use this kind of hatred in this kind of language towards any church at all the church represents love,” said Pastor Jefferson.

The pastor was able to go back and watch the crime recorded on security cameras.

Three boys who look like teenagers use a golf club to break one of four cameras.

Then they can be seen on the others breaking a bulb in street light before they pulled out their cans of spray paint and spread hate.

“I’m very hopeful there seem to be some images there that capture these young people and my prayer is that they will be reformed,” said Pastor Jefferson.

Jefferson’s church is mostly black but spreads an all inclusive message to its congregation.

The pastor estimates the damage at about $3,500.

The vandals also stole one of the security cameras but fortunately their were others to help police.

Only if they had guns instead of security cameras.

9.41

(a) A person in lawful possession of land or tangible, movable property is justified in using force against another when and to the degree the actor reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to prevent or terminate the other's trespass on the land or unlawful interference with the property.

(b) A person unlawfully dispossessed of land or tangible, movable property by another is justified in using force against the other when and to the degree the actor reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to reenter the land or recover the property if the actor uses the force immediately or in fresh pursuit after the dispossession and:

(1) the actor reasonably believes the other had no claim of right when he dispossessed the actor;  or

(2) the other accomplished the dispossession by using force, threat, or fraud against the actor.




A person is justified in using deadly force against another to protect land or tangible, movable property:

(1) if he would be justified in using force against the other under Section 9.41;  and

(2) when and to the degree he reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately necessary:

(A) to prevent the other's imminent commission of arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime;  or

(B) to prevent the other who is fleeing immediately after committing burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, or theft during the nighttime from escaping with the property;  and

(3) he reasonably believes that:

(A) the land or property cannot be protected or recovered by any other means;  or

(B) the use of force other than deadly force to protect or recover the land or property would expose the actor or another to a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury.
