Brock Lesnar may end up returning to the Octagon to fight Jon Jones someday, but for now he’s still taking care of business in the squared circle.

Perhaps fueled by the rumors that Lesnar was planning to resume his UFC career and battle Jones, the storyline for the main event also involved Lesnar’s on-screen advocate Paul Heyman announcing that he and his “client” would leave the WWE in the event Lesnar lost at SummerSlam.

Regardless of the result, it’s unlikely that it will have any effect on Lesnar’s potential MMA plans. Lesnar still has more than six months remaining on his suspension following two failed USADA drug tests in July 2016 in relation to his fight with Mark Hunt at UFC 200. The suspension was frozen when Lesnar subsequently announced his retirement the following February.

Lesnar has yet to re-enter the USADA testing pool per the UFC and even after he does so it is unlikely that he would be eligible to fight Jones (or anyone else) until summer 2018, taking into account both his suspension and WWE obligations.

Lesnar retains WWE Universal title at SummerSlam, UFC return remains unlikely until mid-2018

I find the use of the term "won" odd.

Brock does what Brock wants. If he wants to return he's quite capable of making it happen

Yes, he won a scripted event where they practiced the outcome several times to ensure it went the way it was scripted to go.......

Universal? Is that an interim belt of sorts?
They split Raw and Smackdown a while back, and both shows have different exclusive rosters. The WWE Championship belt went to one show, and they created the Universal Title so both shows can have a belt. It's pretty stupid in my opinion.

Fuck, they already did this like back in early 2000s right?

Does anyone have a gif of the finish of Brock's title fight at Summer Slam?

Yeah, I know they've done it before. I work with a guy who's a fanatic and I watch PPVs with him but I'm no WWE history buff. The brand split is weird though because it seems to water down a lot of the bigger cards. Imagine if the UFC had a Fs1 roster and a big Fox roster and they never intermingled.

Now Jon Jones has no excuse to keep ducking Phillip Brooks.

Lol I actually watched highlights from the match and when I saw how absolutely gigantic and shredded Lesnar was I knew there was no way he was going to lose. Not possible for him to enter USADA any time soon unless he just doesn't care and gets busted again.

I think they both ahd like the same name? Stone Cold had one, and the Rock had the other?
I believe at the time Brock was Undisputed Champion on Smackdown and HHH was World Heavyweight Champion due to daughter plowing abilities.

I think, and could be wrong, what you're refereing to was when the Invasion storyline was going on, Austin was WWF champion and the Rock won the WCW belt off Booker T
