It's weird how Jones is playing the same fake character he tried to pass off for years and so many people are buying it.

So many people are like abused wives, "this time he's really changed."
And how do you know he's playing fake now - at a time when he doesn't even have to?
What if *gasp* he really has learned from his mistakes and matured and this is how he feels today?
At the end of their first fight, it was very different - y'all musta forgot....

Is that not what the fans are saying? He's saying it's unfair that they're saying that.
"You know what we do, trash talk is part of the game. Not to say what was said before the fight was just to hype it, there was some real animosity between Daniel and I. But when it's all said and done, Daniel Cormier has my utmost respect as a fighter and a person. The way he carries himself is how all champions should. I know in my first fight I mocked him for crying and said I would do it again, but that's not who I want to be. Fans are brutal enough. They(the fans) have no idea the amount of energy and sacrifices that are made to be at this level. I do, and because of that, I'm not going to mock DC and I ask my fans to do the same".

THAT, would be sincere. Instead Jones just highlights what upsets DC the most, which is that so many people put DC's entire career and legacy for one fight, a fight that Jones won. I used to always defend Jon Jones and was one of the last fans to see how he was fake. I admit that, but what I see from Jon now is not real.

As I said before, he's a bad public speaker. You're skipping the fact that he said that he admires Daniel as a man and as a father, and that he aspires to be like him. It wasn't completely filled with things that could be construed as passive aggression.

Also, Jones has historically been very fake, aside from a few little flashes we've seen. Fake before doesn't equal fake forever, and genuine now doesn't equal genuine for the rest of time. I see the incidences individually, and this particular one I don't see in such a cynical light.

People are complicated. Jones can both be fake and sincere at different times. In my wild assed opinion, Jones sees DC as a coach and mentor in some ways. Plus his "crack head" retort even had Jon laughing (almost).

bad public speaker=letting people know how you really feel when you're trying to come off as respectful.

I think it's a difference of opinion or perspective, because like I said I used to defend Jon Jones as a "good guy" until finally I realized all he had done there's no more defending I could do. If this was a few years ago and this happened, I would be giving Jon Jones credit but to me it just seems like the same Jon Jones.

Have you seen Jons interview on Sway morning show?

So you went from thinking he was always genuine to thinking he's always fake? The answer is somewhere in the middle, in my opinion, and extreme, set-in-stone opinions regarding just about anything are dangerous, and rarely accurate.

I haven't, but I saw his interview on Jim and Sam.

I'm not saying it's black and white. I do however think when Jon knows he's in an interview that will be seen, he says what he thinks is more pc. Take for example his espn interview with DC the first time. Jon Jones when he knew he was on air, acted one way. Then, when off air and unknown he was still being recorded, just a minute later Jones switches and reveals his true opinion. Whatever the opinion, fine, but I can see multiple times where he has contradicted himself.

He's not always genuine, he's not always fake. Not saying that, but I am saying in my opinion, i don't think Jon Jones cares about DC and DC's well being as much as he's trying to portray.

How genuine do you think Jon is after recent revelations? :D

I feel like JBJ means well but isn't smart enough to keep his ego in check. It's this type of person that is dangerous to be associated with; the ones who you know they mean it but will still get caught up in some fuckery when you're not around. Good ole Jon Jones.

Point to where I said he was overall a genuine guy. If anything, I said he was never genuine until he said nice things about Daniel.

If you're gonna pull a petty "I told you so", at least word it in a way that makes the crow taste bad. I'm careful with how I word things because I think the whole MMA fan "provide a hot take as a definitive statement without any real evidence" trend is naïve and bad for the sport.

Are you under the impression that everything said before a fight (to sell the fight and affect your opponent) is more genuine than everything said after a fight?

You're not that naïve. I just think you take things that fit your narrative as genuine.

On top of that, that doesn't change my original refutation of your bump.

To simplify things, people on this thread were giving Jones the benefit of the doubt of turning a new corner. My stance is I have given him the benefit of doubt multiple times in the past only to be burned, and that I just don't fee Jones is a changed man.

This "changed man" is making the same mistake over and over again. Changed? No. Same shit, different laxative.

I also never said he changed. I specified that I thought the nice things he said about Cormier were genuine. Didn't mean he was a clean athlete or even a good guy.

MMA fans like to make these big jumps when it comes to their opinions of fighters, and defending their opinions. If you defend one single thing about a fighter, or even question someone else's assumption, for some reason they take it as an endorsement of everything the fighter has ever done. As you can see above, I never said that Jones was a genuine person. You projected that opinion onto me because I disagreed with your assumption. If anything, Jones popping solidifies what I said above, which is why I think your bump and attempt to "told you so" me was ineffective.

One of us used to give Jon Jones the benefit of the doubt.
One of us no longer believes what he says and wants his actions to speak instead of his words.
One of us saw the interview and didn't think Jon Jones was genuine or is a changed man.

The other one is you.

It is what it is. I still like you more than Jon Jones :)
