Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Michael Bisping was on his podcast earlier this week (listen), chirping about all things mixed martial arts (MMA). “The Count” has been around the fight game for well over a decade and has probably seen and heard it all.

Including allegations from UFC welterweight kingpin Tyron Woodley that racism is alive and well in the world’s largest combat sports promotion, which includes both fans and penny-pinching promoters.

See those comments here and here.

Unfortunately for “The Chosen One,” the brash Brit sees no evidence to back up those claims, using former black champions like Quinton Jackson and Daniel Cormier, among others, as examples of athletes who were pushed and marketed equally.

Uneducated white englishman doesnt understand racism but claims he has never seen it. Shock.

Rampage Jackson is your example?!?!?! Wut???

His constant bollocks pisses me off, he just wont stop digging himself into a pit. I will not ever listen to his podcast, I would crash my car in rage.

With every passing day Bisping becomes harder to tolerate. Unfortunately he'll probably beat GSP & cling on to the belt for longer than he needs to. Hopefully Whittaker smashes Bisping's mouth the way Vitor smashed his eye so we don't have to hear sounds coming out of his face for a while.

Bisping is a weird one for me, when he got the short notice call up I wanted him to beat Rockhold.

The build up was brilliant, especially with the way he finished smug Luke.

Since he got the belt he has been insufferable in the media, dodged top contenders, and held the belt hostage for a long time now.

The GSP fight is more bullshit from the UFC, even if Pierre wins it's fairly meaningless belt wise, although it would be a big win for him.

Whittaker is the real champion, he has beaten the top contenders Bisping avoided, a champion should not be allowed to fight non ranked opponents and sit out, letting the top contenders knock each other off.

Some here would have you believe Bisping is just a victim of unfortunate events and that's he's facing all comers when possible.

The article is worse than the headline. Many (perhaps most) Mexican-Americans consider themselves to be "white." That's why you see forms that say "Hispanic - White" and "Hispanic - Other." But his comments about black fighters are fucking ridiculous.

Bisping: "I've seen black athletes being pushed. I mean, Rampage Jackson, when he came over from Pride, got a huge push from the UFC"

Um, Rampage came over as a guy who previously beat Chuck, the biggest star in the UFC at that time. Chuck presumably wanted revenge and was so desperate for opponents that he fought Babalu twice, Vernon White, Jeremy Horn, etc. Then Rampage KOed Chuck, earning whatever push he received. He's also pretty fucking charismatic, which earned pushes for less accomplished white fighters like Sonnen.

Bisping: "...and the list goes on. Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier."

Jesus, is he trying to pick the worst possible examples? Jones is arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all time. Cormier is not terribly far behind, having run through everybody at HW and LHW except Jones. If he wasn't friends with Cain, he might be HW champ right now.

The comments are even more ridiculous because they come from a guy who got a massive, undeserved push because of his race/nationality and not his in ring accomplishments.

they might say, 'Look at this guy, entitled white guy living in Orange County, saying, 'Racism doesn't exist.' How on earth does he have a clue? How is he ever going to consider anything like that, because he could never ever come close to experiencing it?' And you're absolutely right.

Bisping is a funny fucker sometimes though.

I'll give it a listen if you reckon it's the best one around.
I like it but everyone is different. He does it with a guy called luis Gomez, I've never heard of him before but hes actually quiet funny and works well with Bisping.

Bisping is a master at working the heel angle though isn't he. It's an intuitive understanding of his audience and how to push their buttons without really appearing to try. It's all natural, the guy's a GM troll.

Sonnen pushed himself, his charisma and schtick, he was the first real shit talker. He earned it like Rampage did, although with different methods.
