Bellator MMA will return to the Forum on Jan. 20 by flexing the strength of its deep welterweight division, matching champion Douglas Lima against former UFC title challenger Rory MacDonald.

“When I signed with Bellator, I made it clear I wanted to take over — multiple weight classes and multiple championships,” MacDonald said in a prepared statement. “Douglas Lima and his title are first on the list before I move onto the next.”

Tickets for the card are scheduled to go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 29 at Ticketmaster.

Bout time Lima stopped ducking Rory.

Will be exciting to see Rory win his first major title.

A little disappointing that they didn't book this fight for a Canada venue. Maybe they wait for a potential Mousasi - Rory fight for that one? Looking forward to it, I'm sure they will stack the card.

Lima's wanted this matchup since they signed Rory. Eager to prove himself against probably the best WW in the sport right now. Gonna be a damn good fight.

I'd love to see that, but I think I remember hearing Coker say that they are looking at a Netherlands event in early 2018.

Mousasi is headlining that, surely.

Great another fuckhead who will chase multiple titles so they can find more excuses to not defend them. Hope Lima puts him in the ground.

No one will beat Koreshkov again.
But he will likely have the roughest road back to his title.

Nice!!! I am looking forward to this fight, this is probably the best fight in Bellator history. Idunno why, but I think MVP vs the WW champion will be the best and most historic title fight for some reason.

the ol' i'm rubber you're glue defense. Hope Lima has a better defense plan for the fight
I lol'd at Lima's response. If Lima wins this, he's the best ww in MMA. I dont care what anyone says, his skills are tough for any UFC ww to handle.

He would be top 3 no doubt. Lima is dangerous for anyone at WW, but he has obvious holes in his game. he needs to show me he has decent tdd, at least. Dude was laid on for 5 round agains andrey(he was injured; I know). He was also laid on by askren(beast wrestler I know)

Lastly, he was taken down and controlled in the second round again of the second andrey fight.

When Lima shows me he can stuff a td from a decent grappler, I'll call him the best in the division(after beating Rory of course)

He got up as soon as he got taken down, didn't he? I remember Lima sweeping Koreshkov, and getting up to his feet. I think he will be fine if the fight hits the mat, he threatened Askren when he got taken down, and swept him too. I think Lima is the superior striker, and the kickboxing exchanges will be amazing. This fight will be better than Rory vs Lawler 2.

I dont see anything special in that fight, honestly think Lima would pose a bigger threat too.

Lima got up quickly during the first td in the second fight. He was on the bottom for the better part of 2-3minutes in the second round of their second fight. Just really hope Lima has been working that tdd
