How did some of you become so smart and aware?

I'm not dumb, I run a business and juggle a million things at once but some of you make me feel like I'm a tard.

I know it's partially interest in certain subjects, I guess I'll forever be a fart joke kinda guy.

Typically the political threads are like 20+ pages and the "woman fucks a horse" threads are about two. I'm more of a "woman fucks a horse" dude.

the ownership fucked over the fans several times.

they pissed off fans like me by selling the tickets to the websites and scalpers making the ticket prices higher and harder to buy for some games.

I'm I ticket buyer since 2004 and I haven't attended a single game this season. stubhub center is nice but there is no way it can replicate this magnificent atmosphere of Qualcomm stadium.

a smarter move would have been to move the team to Orange county.

It won't be easy and it won't be quick, but there's no going back now. They're not going to accept anything but independence.

Ireland, Scotland, etc will make overtures supporting this. England, France, etc. will absolutely back the the Spanish government while chastising the violence.

I agree that this is the likely scenario, but there will be electoral consequences for Rajoy and the Partido Popular in the wake of this. They've been steadily losing ground over the last couple years and this is likely going to be it for them. By next year they'll probably lose power and then we could see legislative reform or court packing that allows for a second vote. The EU will likely back the government position for now (as the Kurdish vote demonstrated), but will eventually change their tune when the winds shift internally a bit. Their seeming willingness to possibly fast track an independent Scotland is a good indicator of where they stand. It would be interesting to see a Scottish-Catalonian-Greek-Kurdistan trade bloc make overtures to China or Russia as a way to get concessions they want from the EU. We could have a pretty different world map by 2020. The city-states rise as nations decline.

Catalonia has a long period of wanting some level of autonomy and Independence.
Independence movement has increased since Spain's economic downturn. Current ruling party is the first party that's pro-independence in control ever.
Nationalism vs. nationalism inside of Spain.

They hold it an illegitimate referendum so Spain sends in the police to break up the voting locations. Police get super heavy-handed shooting rubber bullets at the crowd and beating people.

Firefighters want to get laid from some of those sweet Catalonia and Honey's and choose the side of the independence crowd to protect them from the police.

If the leave will they be part of the EU?

When did this become an illegal idea? I was in Spain 2 years ago and they were already debating it and were having votes it all seemed perfectly legal then

When police start bringing violence to the people, I usually figure its a good sign the elites feel threatened

Catalonia is arguing that they are an autonomous region with some self determination rights based on the somewhat confederalist system of Spain. The courts have generally rejected this claim under the Spanish Constitution. The Madrid Government essentially feels it's upholding the court's decision by blocking the vote, particularly since the local Catalonian government is saying this vote will be binding (unlike prior votes which were agreed by both sides to be non-binding based on the judgments of the court).

What do you think the end result will be?

I see no way forward without independence at this point.

That constitution was created by the fascist falangist state. Which is why Catalans will say it doesn't matter what the constitution says.

Yup, they're holding on to the dream that is united Europe. You look around the world and you see that people do not want to be united. They want their own land, their own say. This is what happens to unions throughout history, they break up. They do not work. We are tribes, nothing more.

I see a weird quasi-independence slowly emerging over the next couple years. Even though 90% voted in favor, the turnout still hovered around 50%. There are a decent number of moderates in Catalonia who want to remain, but are displeased with Madrid. If there's a turnover in the national government, who knows what could happen. Problem is there is legally no way to leave right now. The EU won't back it. Catalonia may become basically like Taiwan.

It will certainly be interesting.

The Catalan President said a short time ago that the region would officially declare its independence from Spain within days.
