He called out the audience. No heel game, he just called them out what we all think or would like to say. It was about time.
He did an interview earlier in the week complaining about how his hotel room didn't have air conditioning because the A.C. for the entire hotel broke.

And if he really was spat on and had shit thrown at him, it's understandable why he'd feel that way.

Colby Covington has some choice words for Ricardo Liborio.

Covington responded to the American Top Team (ATT) co-founder’s criticism of the UFC welterweight contender for his post-fight antics at UFC Fight Night 119 last weekend. After his win over Demian Maia, Covington called Brazil a “dump” and the Sao Paulo crowd “filthy animals.”

Liborio, who also revealed he is no longer a coach at ATT, said in a statement he does not condone Covington’s behavior after the Maia win.

Covington, though, doesn’t care about what Liborio thinks of him.

“Ricardo Liborio is a joke,” Covington told BloodyElbow.com. “That guy’s been out of ATT for over two, three years. That guy’s a complete joke trying to use my name and my fame and the stuff with Brazil to put him over and make him look like the good guy from ATT.

“He’s been out of ATT for a while; he was using Dan Lambert, the ATT owner. He was using Dan. He was picking up these paychecks two or three years ago, never showing up to work. That guy is a conman, he’s a scumbag, and he’s acting like a piece of sh-t trying to use my name to put him over.”

Very interesting.

Dude wins one big fight and thinks he's more famous than Ricardo Liborio.

Lambert say he left two years ago.

Fellow ATT co-founder Dan Lambert clarifies Ricardo Liborio's departure dates back two years

“(Liborio) left two years ago,” Lambert said. “He moved to Orlando, three hours north of here, for family issues. I made a deal with him, I said, ‘OK, I’ll keep you on the payroll. Just come down a couple days a week and train guys.’ He never came down. He got too busy up there, so I kept him on the payroll for over a year to help him out, and then earlier this year we ended it because he just hadn’t been down. But that was months and months and months ago.”

Libo is a great guy, always has been extremely respectful. He's been mostly out for a while due to several things... His young daughter is blind and I know that he's dealt with that (she's competed too, great story, and he's a great father). I know that ATT has had some issues in the past internally.... Conan is still there, Din is still there, and they have great black belts like Ailton Barbosa who help coach their competitive BJJ guys and MMA guys.... But the writing on the wall has been there for a while with this (ie Ben Saunders choosing to train with Eddie Bravo).

Apologies for not listening to every podcast that exists and picking up on this
Speaking of podcasts... I don't know what kind of sorcery you're working with but every time I get in my car your podcast starts playing. Doesn't matter what I was previously listening to either. It somehow defaults to you commies.

I don't think they're filthy animals, but let's be honest - nowhere else in the world does EVERY foreign fighter get booed just because they're fighting a local.

I expected better from you guys. Liborio has been away and transitioning for months. I believe he was on Chaels podcast last week or week before explaining why.
I stopped listening to chael when he had that bozo on and ive grown tired of his weak game

No. But he called them out in his own words. And we all have been saying similar stuff about how the Brazilian audience can be. I think he reciprocated the audience in kind. Bad vibes all around man. But to think litterally filthy animals, no, I rather think they are really disrespectful at a level of their own though. I am kind of against calling out the audience (Iaquinta for example) but damn it was he right in throwing some mud back. Live by sword...etc. They deserve each other.

Not every country is the same. Brazil is a very nationalistic people. They are "Brazilian" before anything else. Probably due to their soccer/world cup obsession. To know this is to understand them.

As for booing foreign fighters, yes, they do. But haven't you noticed that when a fighter does well against one of theirs, and doesn't act like an asshole, they actually cheer? There is usually a moment of silence if the Brazilian loses, but they do applaud them right after.
Classic example: when Kelvin Gastelum absolutely starched Vitor Belfot in his home town... before he came out he was boo'd mercilessly. he was even relishing the 'bad guy role as he came into the ring. But after the knockout (and the crowd's stunned silence) all he had to do was speak to them and they began cheering for him. Same thing happened on this card when Bronson (sadly) starched Machida.

So Colvington doesn't have to be an asshole because he was boo'd on the way out. He isn't the first fighter to fight in Brazil and won't be the last, but he's the first to act like an anus, and get treated like on on the way out imo.

Without a doubt, very very emotional audience, like a starch opposite would be the Japanese audience who overal seem very respectful to the art. I remember when Brasil lost to Germany (I think) during the world cup and how an entrie crowd was in tears. So it may be cultural, I don;t know, I am just not a fan of it. As a fighter I would never choose to fight in Brasil. Only if no choice.
