Vs.

There is an art to playing a heel and there is an art to cutting a promo.

Mr. Covington has failed to fully understand both while at the same time not fully understanding his audience.

MMA is the real deal, real fights with real consequences. Fans are really invested in their fighters.

words have meaning ...and in the real world what you say is what you mean ...

So when you disrespect a crowd and a country ..(who don't know you are trying to play a gimmick)..you are engaging in Russian Roulette.

Blurring the lines between Professional Wrestling and MMA is a slippery slope that one must carefully go down ....are you being real or are you playing a gimmick in the real world? are you trolling or are you really a douche bag ...most fans will not be able to decipher ....its all about perspective and knowing your audience.

So I say to you Mr. Covington, be careful. It is not wise to play these type of games in the real World.

Ya
I think it is a bad venue/country to do that in...maybe can get away with it in other countries

Brazil is an MMA pioneer and hotbed and their people are in Gyms and Orgs everywhere and coaching...coaches might not give u advice or sparring partners might lay extra on you for talking smack...possibilities are endless

not bright move IMO

Colby is definitely dumb. I understand Chael and Conor might have said harsher words about Brazil but that was actually to build up a signed fight. Colby doesn't even have a fight lined up and insults the country.

Chael was a real hardcore Pro Wrestling fan growing up so he knew exactly how to call out fighters and throw some shots at fans ...McGregor too has a great grasp of playing the game.

Unfortunately Colby is trying his best to imitate without proper knowledge of the game he is playing.

I disagree.

How many Covington threads were there prior to the Maia fight? 1-2 a month at best maybe...How many a day after the Maia fight? At least 1 a day across most if not all MMA forums.

He has ppl's attention. Sure, most of them are tuned in cos they think he's an asswipe and wanna see him get beat. But ppl are turned in, and sometimes that's all you need.

So you follow the motto: "All press is good press" or "There is no such thing as bad publicity".

I get it, its the model the Kardashians used and many many other celebs have used over the years to get to the top. (for a short period of time)

Personally I don't agree with it, because you're selling yourself out to make a dollar, you lose all integrity - respect taking this route to gain that fortune and fame and once you start declining there usually won't be anyone around to help pick you back up due to your actions to get to the top. That's just my personal thoughts though ...I get what you are saying.

I totally agree with you. If I was a professional MMA fighter it certainly wouldnt be what I would be doing either. However, the approach is working for Colby right now (imo) because as you pointed out, I do believe that any publicity is good publicity. He better keep winning though because I also agree that 1-2 losses will damage his career bad. I mean he might be able to have a career in other orgs, but it won't be making him the big bucks like Im sure he wants.

The next fighter should go more directly and just outright and clumsily take a poop on a picture of his div's champ on the octagon during the post fight interview.
(trying not to pee during that nonetheless)

Then imagine someone like Ariel H: "Well you gotta give him the title shot off of that now for sure in my opinion. I mean who was fighter-x two weeks ago? Nobody knew who he was. Now everybody's talking about him. Dana even mentioned it during the post fight press conference. There's just so many storylines! *gets ovulation* You gotta give him the title shot in my book"

Everyone is trying to impliment the trash talk, high level of charisma approach. Goofy promos and cringeworthy back and forths all over the place now.

That is one part of the game though. From my understanding his fight was boring? You cannot go off and cut a promo like that after a performance that leaves the crowd restless.

Chael and Conor usually do their over the top comments after a great performance. Chael finishes Stann early, "Anderson Silva! You absolutely suck! Loser leaves town!" Brock kills Frank Mir, "Bud Lite don't be me nothin', gonna get on top of my wife!" McGregor yells about how he ain't sorry for nothing. Yet after the Diaz 2 fight, he was way more toned down. Exhaustion, yes, but thats not a time to go over the top.

The aura comes from a mixture of talent and personality, or at least exciting performances.

lol I listened to the latest podcast with Colby and I can't stand Ariel...for some reason every discussion leads back to himself..he feels he is the center piece of the MMA Universe ... when I reality he is irrelevant.

With chael and Connor you can tell they are bullshitting
Colby sounds sincere and Brazil don't play that shit
I liked it because I'm an asshole too, but it wasn't smart

I wonder where Colby is from. Listening to him it seems possible that redneck dialect and ebonics may have a common origin and wherever Colby comes from might be the original home of both dialects before they must have split off in two directions some time in the past. Colby, when he's most animated and talking shit seems to synthesize the two languages in a natural way. He's actually kind of an interesting specimen if you completely block out the content of the message.

It is never ok to disrespect somebody like that without any incentive whatsoever.
It's disgraceful and shows a man with poor ethics or a spoilt brat

Although I was referring to the cross breaded pig/salmon hybrid, I believe you are absolutely correct about Fukushima destroying all of our fish, I eat absolutely no Sea creatures that come out of the Pacific or inlets.
The Sultan salmon run was supposed to yield a couple million salmon a couple of years ago, 2000 came downstream.
The ones I started catching in lical holes Were bleeding out their eyes and gills.
