Georges St-Pierre made a triumphant return to mixed martial arts (MMA) this past weekend (Sat., Nov. 4, 2017) by submitting Michael Bisping at UFC 217 via rear-naked choke to claim the Middleweight championship.

Full recap here.

While “Rush” looked like he hadn’t lost too much of a step given his four-year layoff, Freddie Roach says there were a few concerns he had for his pupil during the title fight, specifically his stamina in the later rounds.

“I was a little concerned (with his stamina). It was obviously a fast-paced fight, and he did box very well in the first round and I was very happy with it. Bisping is a very tough opponent, he came back in the second round,” said roach on The MMA Hour.

I cant believe what a mess and what a side show the ufc has become. Dont get me wrong the fights were all crazy sat night but i mean just look at this shit. Interim belts, fighters now moving up/down more than ever, champs picking fights, "superfights" that are not even superfights, champs now moving up or down instead of defending, champs NOT EVEN defending, champs not defending but getting the option to move up to fight for another belt. Its really just a circus. No legitimacy at all anymore, real credibility lost. So that is fine lets just call a spade a spade, UFC=Attitude era WWF lol.

I agree with you with all the interim belt stuff, but i disagree with the rest.
I love seeing fighters hopping down and up in weightclasses, i for one don't really give a crap who has a belt or not.
I just want to see some good fights and last saturday was a treat.

Maybe i'm a bit biased because i'm a big fan of the open weight tournaments in pride.

It really is a clusterfuck. There is no clear path to the top for a young fighter currently. So many belts held up. (Some in the same cocking weight class FFS)

Freddie Roach's predictions of what his fighters are or aren't going to do are notoriously unreliable.

I don’t see why it was necessary for GSP to come in with all that extra weight slowing him down. Couldn’t he just come in anywhere between 171-185?

Maybe he needed the power for that left hook, he wasn't throwing pillowhands

Freddie likes to release "news" that show he doesn't know WTF he's talking about half the time....

I remember when there were no weight classes and you had to fight 3 times in one night to be the man. God, I'm sounding old.

I don't mind him going down to WW again. He can fight Woodley and take what is rightfully his, and this will get him closer to the possibilty of fighting McGregor after he is done defending his belt. It's not as much of a mess as it seems to be. The middle weight divison was fucked anyways with Bisping winning while getting knocked out, the bizzare decision in the Henderson/Bisping fight, then champ running away from the contenders, Moussasi leaving, there was just little that could mess that division up anymore.

First fight Woodley, then Conor McGregor for the cheddar. It'll work out.

If he does manage to do that it would cement him as the GOAT forevermore.

Whitaker has been the real champ ever since he beat Romero. Let's just make it official and stop wasting time.

It's also amazing that people needed this to come out to know GSP wasn't fighting Whitaker. It's been crystal clear the whole time and GSP confirmed it in his post-fight speech.
