General Was SNL funny at any point?

Obviously it's horrendous now but I just watched some episodes of the first few seasons with it's "all star" cast and was just embarrassed, not one laugh to be had.

There was an episode when someone was playing Tori Spelling in the Spelling Mansion's Gilligan Island room. Hardest I've ever laughed in my life. I could barely breath I was laughing so hard. I was also tripping balls at the time, I think it was Christmas night. I've searched for hours for the clip, but have never been able to find it.

Stopped being funny about eight years ago or so. I think the 90s were the peak of the show, with Ferrell, Sandler, Farley, Spade, Myers, etc. But also great work from Murray, Armisen, Fallon, Chase, Belushi, Murphy and Hartman. So my answer is yes, it was definitely funny at some point. But now? I don't know any of these people, and they are not really funny to me.

kate McKinnon and pete davidson are the only funny members.I watch their clips on youtube.

I can't sit through an entire episode in 2017 of snl the writing is god awful now.

The original cast stuff from 1975-1980 stinks like shit. Those guys were funny in movies but not on SNL
