UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is campaigning for a fight with Nate Diaz on Dec. 30, but it looks like Diaz’s camp doesn’t expect the title bout to happen.

Diaz hasn’t fought since his rematch with Conor McGregor in August 2016, and his boxing coach Richard Perez told Submission Radio that the promotion is not paying enough to have Diaz fighting Woodley by the end of the year.

"The UFC doesn’t want to give Nathan the money,” Perez said. "You know, 'cause what Woodley’s trying to do, he’s trying to get his name up there and he wants to fight the best, so he wants to fight Nathan. But UFC doesn’t want to pay Nathan, so why fight him? We can fight McGregor (instead).

“I saw Woodley talking the other day about Nathan being scared, 'scared homie,' you know, but it’s not that. It’s not all about that, because Nathan ain’t scared to fight nobody, it’s the money, and Dana White and the UFC doesn’t want to pay him. But he deserves it.”

Perez considers “two to three months” a perfect time for a camp before Diaz returns to the Octagon, and also has an idea of the number that the UFC should reach in order to convince him to fight again.

“15 million (dollars) easy. Easy. 'Cause, I mean, he’s a star right now”

Tbh, no disrepect to Nate, but I dont really care if Nate ever fights again either so, ask for as much as you want.

Nate has never been and will never be the 'best' at welterweight.

I don't get why people aren't excited about seeing Nate Diaz fight anymore. I want to see him fight anybody.

I personally find it satisfying and hilarious he is saying the Woodley fight won’t pay enough.

So what, still all hype. He lost two of the most embarrassing beatings in UFC history. Being suplexed into Bolivia, and then a towel throw, and people say something about tapping to strikes...

Nor did the ref even see it, he was already busy stopping the fight.

Has anyone made 15 mil for a UFC fight? Whatever the most earned for one fight is, it would be extremely hard to say Nate deserves 25% of that.


Hes never been a champ and fluffs it routinely.

Because he beat Connor once doesn't mean he should make millions per fight.

Duffy beat Connor too.

I like the Diaz Bros.

But I'm also a realist

I want to see him fight guys who will put up a fight not hold him up against the cage or down to the mat

Same. I love both Diaz brothers, but Nate has often said he’s a lightweight. He would get his leg humped against the cage because even though he’s bigger and stronger Woodley wouldn’t want to go to the ground. He would run away with a SUPER boring decision win then talk about how great he is. Blah Blah Blah.

None of this matters tho because they damn sure ain’t giving Nate 15 mill to fight anyone, not even Conor.
