Does it get patch updates like my xbox? You're ready for action and a download suddenly appears and you have to go and find something to do for twenty mins, like bang the wife ten times or bench treefiddy?

I don't understand self driving cars. I enjoy driving.

Although if I get pissed I suppose it's better than an Uber. Just climb in the back of your own car and say "Take me home, Tesla" then take a nap.
I enjoy driving sometimes but if we get to a solid % of self driving cars and it's proven reliable then my work day will be dramatically improved because of how much more effective I can be with my time. Easily save me 3 hours a day if/when it becomes "hands-free" so if something can allow me to work 15+ hours less a week then I fully support it.

You'll be working more.

Not overly possible with what I do. Unless I'm just so conditioned to working 15+ hours a day that I use the newly freed up time to target even more accounts. But even some of that will be able to be rolled up into the time saved by being able to email and make better phone calls while driving/traveling.

Yes, unless you work for yourself. Your boss is not going to automation to convenience you, it's going to be for profit. People have this notion that automation is going to make things better for us, but of course, it's for our bosses. You just have less and less relevance as the process continues.

Anything that can be done by a robot is not a task that utilizes the fullness of human potential.

That is an ideal. The economy says otherwise, who is going to pay income tax, and what are they going to do? It's an oversimplification.

It's about giving up total control and trust, and liability, not to the governemnt, but to some car company.

there were roads and schools long before there was an income tax.

But there weren't endless wars for profit.

How long until big corporations pay Tesla to have your self driving car drive you to their stores?

Just imagine your car is driving you to a friend's BBQ and suddenly it pulls into a Walmart parking lot and a Siri voice comes on and says "Just so you know, Walmart has big deals on BBQ products this week, such as..." Sounds like a joke but I can see it happening!

I'm not sure that it would actually re-route you but I'm certain that at some point it will at least give audible alerts and make suggestions for places to stop and recharge your personal battery with a delicious Pepsi while you're taking advantage of our free battery charging stations here at Target!

Although I don't agree with his sentiment. I think he was probably speaking more to the unavailability of income if the work force is automated out of existence which would in turn mean the drying up of all tax revenue. There's never been a society free of taxes, or wars for profit for that matter

Maybe not... but they could choose a route that would drive you by the store or the advertisement. Maybe SUBWAY sets up a huge billboard and pays Tesla to favour routes that drive you by it?

I have no doubt that Google and Garmin already do this based on the weird routes that I'm sometimes directed to take.

The bigger concern should be when the cars decide you don't actually need to go where you want to.

And I imagine all these routes are being archived in the computer database of the car.

Just imagine you get divorced in a year and they pull up your driving history and your wife's attorney is grilling you as to why you were at a certain house at 10pm a year prior.
