First friendly fire accident in Operation Inherent Resolve. These things are unfortunately a part of every war.

A miscalculation sure but there had been two prior strikes on ISIS targets that did not harm any Iraqi troops.

Failures are more likely multifactorial and systemic than one person.

Prob not stupid. Just little failure after another after another bypassing safeguards designed to prevent this.

How often do friendly fire accidents take place?

Also, thank you. I don't know if you guys hear that enough. You have my eternal respect.
I never got bombed but I've had US army convoys open fire on us at night like fucking idiots. Good think they were horrible shots.and you'd gear stories like that fairly often. I think another army patrol called a fucking A-10 run on us one night.... It didn't get approved but when we got back from patrol we found out about it.

And you'd hear about an IA patrol opening fire on patrols sometimes and they'd get lit up with the quickness. It's a big shit show over there and their army is laughable.

Crazy. Pat Tillman was killed in a friendly fire incident in Afghanistan.

Did you ever see the Pesh Merga? Are they any better?

No, I only had the opportunity to meet a small handful of kurds. I liked them much better.

Ya the Pat Tillman shit is crazy, but war is fucking crazy and ugly and gross and it changes you, especially while you're there. Me now could never survive over there. It's a different mind set.

I'm not sure the BBC is either.
No, but even in its bias it's not as blatantly full of shit as RT News is. And with most international news stories I find the BBC does a pretty good job of trying to be fair to all sides.

I usually double-check with Al Jazeera to confirm accuracy.

Really? Most consider the bbc fairly rounded.
I've been a bit unimpressed with their coverage of Jeremy Corbyn, but it looks like they are fairly reliable in this case. Iraqi Minister of Defence is saying it was 9 deaths. Perhaps there were 21 others wounded, as RT is reporting.

Just for clarification. RT doesn't report 30 killed in that video clip, like the title of the thread says, but 30 casualties, which can be deaths or injuries.

Every American war. 1 out of 3 for blue on blue is not a good statistic.

It's well known over here that the American military are more trigger happy and more likely to commit "friendly fire".
