These so called hackers could very well be inside our government, rogue agents headed by some criminal masterminds who have reached the top of these sectors.

It's rumored the See Eye A and the ][\][ $ /-\ are in the midst of an internal power struggle for supremacy....the old guard trying to hold onto their power they've held for decades (Bush Dynasty) while the young bucks coming up with the rise of the internet of things have been able to make their move for supremacy with their ability to manipulate information gained from the net.

So I'm seeing on the news that the FBI are hunting down a nurse that got fired last week......

It's very recent, it's still ongoing actually.

FBI is involved and they are not going to pay of course.

The clinic has mostly paper charts and was just using EMR because the government required it. So they're in a unique position where mostly they can continue their day-to-day operations. but their historical database frizzy look up of things like the labs or whatever is essentially Gone without paying a ton of money to a firm to unlock it which I think might be what they're doing. But they're still able to operate. Many would not be able to.

I know a friend whose firm was hacked. They paid the ransom to get their data back... And apparently they still got screwed they only got part of it back...

I'm under the impression we have some good guys in the NSA and some bad guys ....I don't think its to far fetched to suspect....some of these sophisticated attacks may be coming from the inside.

Cmon man....

I would imagine that once they have infected a computer they are encrypting all the information that's on that system. Once encrypted you either need the key or a very long time to break the encryption - assuming they are using the latest protocols. Which means there isn't a get around for systems already compromised.

The exploit has apparently been patched, but some systems are using old software for compatibility issues, which mean they need specific updates to the old software to allow for compatibility. Basically places that are getting hit are the ones which skimped on IT security.
