Really? In the UK, you pay no tax on earnings less than £10,000 per annum. Up to somewhere around £42k you pay 20% and over that you pay 40%. Over £150k you pay 45%.The tax that the rich pay, is in no way shape or form proportionally more than the poor. Yes the number paid is higher monetarily, however it is by no means equal.
There are loop holes that get exploited and I agree with closing those down but your statement is demonstrably wrong. Someone earning £15k pays barely anything, even proportionally. They get taxed 20% on £5k, which is around 7% of their overall earnings.
