the absolute minimum for 2nd offense is 1 year, so JBJ got 3 months over the absolute minimum.
smh.

From what I understand suspensions for anabolic steroids are 2 years for the 1st offense and it's supposed to double in the 2nd offense, which means he served 75% of a 1st offense sentence. See Tom Lawlor & Frank Mir for examples

Tom had a lot to say on Meltzers show overnight.
He said he dedicated 20+ years to a sport that is nothing but a way for execs to make millions.
He served two years and was then cut for less than Jones done & he said that he was trying hard to work with USADA to prove his innocence & USADA wanted him to pay for additional testing (to see where the contamination was) .
He couldn't afford it so just shut up & served.
Then he gets cut and see's someone who admitted to USADA & the arbitrator that he was doing cocaine while under USADA supervision get off easily.

This is a bad look for everyone, but sadly corruption in big business & prize fighting is normal when it comes to treating people differently.

Such a fucking bummer. I'm a big fan of Tom his old podcast was fantastic and it's a shame they fucked him over the way they did.

It must be tough
He claims innocence (I believe him) he has been nothing but a good soldier. He took the suspension & was excited to come back after 2 years & they fn cut him.
Then he see's a multiple cheat get off because he was "honest" & admitted his coke use, etc.

not fair

I hope Coker is smart enough to sign him & let him be a fun addition.
But as of a few weeks ago Tom said they weren't offering
weird bc he fits them

but the Snitch-Out section of USADA doesn't specify that the arrest/conviction has to be for PEDS...
True, but for it to be a "delivery of substantial assistance" like they're stating it would have to be a dealer who provided coke to a fighter for in competition use or the coke dealer has to be dealing substances banned out of competition. So unless the dealer is also a juicehead or friends with Guillard...

I didn't see parameters for "substantial assistance" defined...where did u get that?

The podcast I referenced earlier and the statement made by USADA. Generally when it comes to USADA that clause is specifically for Snitches and to get a sentence reduced as much as he did it would have to be more than just an anecdotal "I heard this guy uses PEDs"

"Prior to the hearing, USADA determined that a 30-month reduction in the otherwise applicable period of ineligibility was appropriate under the rules based on Jones’ delivery of substantial assistance. Evidence related to Jones’ substantial assistance was presented at the hearing and considered by the arbitrator."

agree, 100%. but i didn't listen to the podcast, busy day sitting in court getting a fine waived.

But the clause that's referenced states that 'substantial assistance' in getting a case can be for either snitching on other abusers/suppliers OR for a felony criminal investigation. For example, JBJ could roll over on his dick-pill cocaine ring or a network of people streaming UFC PPVs, and get the same consideration as if he'd dropped the dime on Winklejohn for pumping the team full of PEDs.

You guys hate steroid users but then you hate when they are outed? Sounds more like a bunch of Jon Jones fighter bashing than anything. He should he celebrated for helping clean up the sport not hated on by a bunch of confused keyboard warriors.

Sammy The Bull did less time than JJ and he admittedly killed 19 people.
