For reference, here is Aldo vs Korean Zombie. The Zombie is tough as fucking nails, and even though Aldo broke his foot very early in this fight, he cruised and made it look easy. Got a couple of easy takedowns, passed into side control, etc. Jose controlled the distance on the feet, hardly ever got hit, countered, etc.

After watching this fight again, it reminded me of how Aldo just shuts people's offense down and makes them fight his game. Zombie got the title shot by being a go for broke, exciting, offensive fighter. Within a minute into the fight with Aldo, he found himself standing around watching Jose & trying to figure out what to do.

Aldo looks like he's the bad boy in a Brazilian boy band in the freezeframe

We're just talking about a fight brother...one that neither one of us competed in....and one coming up that neither of us are going to compete in. Neither of us know Aldo or McGregor, and I guarantee both of them give two fucks about what you and I think. Just putting some perspective on things, because there's no reason to get upset.

And I had it 3-0. Zombie did nothing in the Rounds 1 & 2, and was either on his back or pressed against the cage for 4 minutes of Round 3. That flying knee (that missed) is 3 seconds of 15 minutes of the fight, in which Aldo dominated about 13 of. He certainly didn't get his ass whooped. Just my opinion, of course.
Whether he won the first 3 rounds or not, although I agree he did, it did seem like he was fading in that fight and TKZ was growing in confidence just before he threw out his shoulder.

As far as Mcgregor being a 'white belt', you must be trolling. A white belt would never have escaped from the side control as Chad went for a crucifix and a white belt would have been subbed by the guillotine. Conor Mcgregor may not be an offensive wizard off his back, but his sub defence and scrambling are excellent.

I'm not a believer yet Zeph. I know he got out of those subs against Mendes. I watched it with my own two eyes. And no matter how well he did to get out of them, I revert back to Joe Duffy taking Conor down, passing guard, and submitting him with a side choke in literally 12 seconds. From takedown to tap, 12 seconds. That was 5 years ago. Now maybe he's been working BJJ with the best every day since that fight, and he's great at it now. But he still got mounted twice, his eye busted open in guard, and put in a crucifix in 2 rounds his last time out. If Jose gets those positions, I think it won't go so well for him.

13 days, and then we shall see :)

BJ Penn became a blackbelt in 3 years. I believe Conor has gone from blue to brown in those 5 years you mention. I'm not saying Aldo can't sub him, but to say Conor is a white belt is trolling and disrespectful.

It was an obvious exaggeration, but he didn't look much more credentialed than that against Chad, to be honest. When Chad got that first takedown and went to side control, Conor didn't even move his hips to try and escape. He just laid there flat. It was so odd to me watching it. But you're right, he did eventually escape the submissions...but I wonder how much of that was because Chad was gassed all to hell too. That's why this fight it so intriguing to me. I want to see if Conor has more on the ground than he's shown, and I hope Jose takes the fight there an we find out. Because if Conor is indeed brown belt level...meaning he's good enough to not have to worry much about fighting off of his back, then he is going to be one hell of an out at not only 145, but LW too.

Conor is solid on the ground nowadays cobber, he's been at it for 5 years now, what also helps is that he's a 155er fighting 145ers which also makes me think he doesn't do so well at lightweight, his biggest advantage would become his disadvantage.

I think so too. I mean, McGregor is a great fighter but I think it's asking a lot to go from being Cage Warriors champion, to beating the best P4P fighter on the planet in 2 short years.

I agree 100% with the champ. Easy money all day on Aldo.
Hindsight

Sounds about right

I honestly have never wanted to see a hype train derailed so badly in my life. Conor believes his own hype just like Ronda with less reason or test. He BARELY got past Chad, who took Aldo the distance. McGregor is going to get truly fucked up.

"Whoever wants to make money, all they have to do is bet on Aldo. It'll be the easiest money they will ever make in their lives" Aldo said.
Aldo forgot to mention that the "they" he was talking about in the last sentence was the bookies.
