I've been a Nunes supporter for a while. I pegged her in 2011 or so as the woman most likely to replace Cyborg when Cyborg seemed like she might leave MMA. I though over two years ago that she was the worst style match-up for Ronda Rousey in the division, even before Nunes went on her current tear. And she also was nice enough to respond to me in an AMA when I asked about her cardio issues ahead of the first Shevchenko fight.

So, it's painful to see this sort of situation. Maybe her teammates and coach told her not to fight, in which case she really should say so. But if sinusitis was the only thing and she was medically cleared, she should have fought. Probably this would have required a change to her game plan, since it would have hurt her already questionable cardio, but bowing out of the fight is a really bad look for her.

I do kind of wish Dana White wouldn't utterly steamroll her here though. I get that Dana White is a "candid" type of promoter, but he could still apologize to the fans and say he didn't agree with Nunes' decision without utterly throwing her under the bus.
