Anyone watch Big Brother

I know it’s “reality” trash, but it is entertaining. One thing I do miss about the old place was always being able to find a like minded group when it came to trashy TV shows.

Big Brother is still a thing? That's crazy.
I never watch TV shows anymore. Pretty much just movies, sports and documentaries. I absolutely hate "reality" tv.

Reality TV is our main thing. Survivor, Big Brother, 90 Day Fiance (and all its spin offs), Blow Deck, Love after Lockup, etc. Sadly, there’s just not a lot of good tv on any more. Most of the sitcoms suck now.

I think it’s slipped a lot, but it’s still ok. The pro-racist favoritism almost killed it for us. I think it still there, but production is much better at hiding/disguising it.

The wife and I have recently started watching old seasons pees Survivor. I'm not much of a reality TV watcher, but it's good entertainment to pass the time together in the evenings.

I made it to the final round of casting for that show back in like 2005 or something around there.

A friend of mine wanted to go to an open casting at a local mall so I went with. It was like 4 rounds of interviews before the final round in LA. Apparently I wasnt pretty enough.

I'm kind of with you, but kind of not.

As far as the type of reality shows discussed here, yeah - no thanks. There have been random exceptions here & there.

But then on the other hand, pretty much all of Discovery Channel is technically "reality tv" - everything from Deadliest Catch to the gold mining shows to all the car stuff. There have also been some really good ones like Colony (basically a post-apocalyptic survivalist show), another one testing people's abilities to run from the cops, etc.

Then again, now that I think about it, I guess there's a bit of a fine line between "reality tv" and "documentary" style programming with some of the examples I listed.

Fair points.
I did like Deadliest Catch for the first few seasons. Got a touch repetitive.

I'm in on any car build shows. And survival stuff that isn't too staged.

You might like the Colony. Some of it was kinda silly - like "mararuders" that were "attacking" the participants, but you know they were never gonna actually get violent. Though with how the show went, some of the people may have gotten so fully immersed in it that they may have lost touch with what was legit vs not. Hard to tell.

Do you all remember the one where they put a bunch of kids (like 12 and under) out on some ranch and had them live alone?

There was a Vice episode about it... Holy shit was it fucked up. Like to the point the production was trying to keep the police and parents from conducting a welfare check after concerns starting popping up about the conditions.

Loosely related, I was on an episode of Inkmaster...

Could never watch the show again after being on it (still went to the live finales though...). It was crazy how condensed the filming was. Each episode was a 2 days shoot.

Also super annoying where they would walk around and ask you to put on Beats headphones that werent even plugged in just for product placement.

Also, also... Dave Navarro is like 4'10"

I remember you talking about that on the old forum (Inkmaster is a guilty pleasure) - specifically how insanely overly-edited it was to produce a narrative for the episode, highlight drama, etc.
