The Three-State Solution

If you were following the Iraq War at the time, there were calls to create three states out of Iraq. This was basically a Controlled Chaos suggestion as the three states were considered to be inevitable outcomes eventually.

And here we are:
Iraqi Kurdish leader says 'yes' vote won independence referendum

This of course has pissed off Turkey, which has been embroiled in a de facto Civil War with their Kurdish population. And now there is fear of separatist movements across the borders gaining Steam.

No modern countries will support this move as it flies in the face of the integrity of any nation-state. There was no official vehicle for Kurdish secession vote so this was all done without Baghdads blessing.

Kurds have wanted a Kurdish state for hundreds of years. They have been marginalized by Arabs, Turks, and Persians in the countries they inhabit.

Let the second most modern group of people in the Middle East (after the Israelis) have their country.

Viva El Kurdistan.

We should send our political science specialist Jonah Blank to Ninevah for negotiations.
I suggest travelling by plane rather than boat.

The actual natives of the land, the Eastern Syriac Mesopotamian Christians (Assyrians) actually kept a tidy recorded history of their country and it's inhabitants until the destruction of their society by Tamerlane:

Bar Hebraeus'
Chronography

Translated from Syriac
by E. A. Wallis Budge
(London, 1932)

Table of Contents, Bar Hebraeus or Gregory Abu'l-Faraj, Chronography, History, Historical, Syria, Mesopotamia, Armenia, Asia Minor, Persia, Iran, Iberia, Georgia, Kurds, Arabs, Syriac Historical Sources, Syrian History, Medieval Chronicle

God called to Jonah one day and told him to go preach to Nineveh because the people were very wicked. Jonah hated this idea because Nineveh was one of Israel's greatest enemies and Jonah wanted nothing to do with preaching to them!
Jonah tried to run away from God in the opposite direction of Nineveh and headed by boat to Tarsish. God sent a great storm upon the ship and the men decided Jonah was to blame so they threw him overboard. As soon as they tossed Jonah in the water, the storm stopped.
God sent a big fish, some call it a whale, to swallow Jonah and to save him from drowning. While in the belly of the big fish (whale), Jonah prayed to God for help, repented, and praised God. For three days Jonah sat in the belly of the fish. Then, God had the big fish throw up Jonah onto the shores of Nineveh.

I believe that Old Nineveh is still resented by the Israelis. It seems they retain a very low regard for Assyrians, hence their enthusiastic support for the Kurds including propaganda mills churning out embarrassingly bad revisions of the regions history.

And it would seem they retain equally hostile and vindictive memories of the Arameans, hence the pickle Bashar al Assad currently finds himself in in old Damascus. The Israelis it seems, never forgive a grudge, even after 30 centuries.

You know Sparky, the Assyrian Christians actually have a religious tradition of this where they mock crucify themselves. It's called the Rogation of the Ninevites. It's a very ancient custom.

But Christians are on their way out in the region. That goes for Egypt, Iraq, Syria, etc. That's not just an Israeli scheme, its part of the islamification of the world. Once Ashad loses power, the displacement of Christians will even intensify, as was the case in Egypt when they became "free".

Idk about Egypt. They're still 10% of the population there.

Though I have met an Egyptian Christian who left after Morsi/the Muslim brotherhood were elected to run the country (but before the Egyptian army ousted them).

The Kurds have plenty of Christians.

They have shops that sell Christmas decorations (santa clause stuff)

That region is tame, they are westerners stuck in Iraq

200,000 of them left after the Arab spring. Can you imiagine we kick 200,000 Muslims out of the US, the SJW's would jump off bridges throughout the nation!

Same situation in Iraq, in 2003 when they became "free", first thing they did was getting rid of at least 275,000 Christians.

And once Assad loses power in Syria, you can expect the same there.
