As part of today's Senate hearing, it was stated by the FBI guy that he believes the gun was brought in using a backpack which they have. However, he also stated the length of the completed upper was too long to fit the entire thing in the backpack meaning part of it would stick out. Nobody noticed a gun walking around with a visible firearm sticking out of his backpack? There were a lot people around there.

That isn't really what that would indicate.
They couldn't see a gun which means they can't confirm a threat. They may have known there was someone up there, but they didn't know he had a gun. They may have sighted him in, but they wouldn't have shot until seeing a gun. He disappears after walking across the roof and gets on his belly to crawl into a shooting position.
They wouldn't have kept all eyes on him because they need to cover a large area. One of them may have kept eyes on him, but they can't neglect the rest of the venue for an unconfirmed threat.
It was the local cops at the building that saw him up there with a gun after climbing up themselves and falling down. It doesn't sound like they relayed that information to the SS. The shooting started right after the local cop saw him up there, so the SS found out about the gun once the shooting started.
There isn't anything to suggest the SS snipers had identified him as a threat until the shooting started. There should have been SS agents near that building despite the local cops covering it. The SS agent would have been able to let the snipers know about the gun right before the shooting began, so the snipers could lock in on that area.

Guy on roof is a threat, especially at that distance.
With any competence he is seen and dealt with in 5 seconds tops, and detected the moment he approaches any building and wouldn't make it halfway up that roof
A secure perimeter keeps him .5 miles away easily, likely more.
He would have been noticed 30 minutes ago unless he was in building and popped up thru a roof door.
It isn't a threat a sniper team will shoot. It is a suspicious person. It could just be someone looking for a better view. They still shouldn't be there. The LEOs that are over there would handle that rather than sniper teams away from there.

My main point is that he wouldn't have made it .5 miles from the stage, let alone an easy shot (130yd). That is not how SS works unless compromised.

The SS acting director testified that the SS communications over their encrypted radios were not recorded. Meaning we'll never know what was said between them. Between this and the fact that the sheriffs department already publicly stated their body cams were off, we're only going to get verbal statements & testimony along with eyewitness statements & video.
