When you think of free agents jumping ship, lately it’s been Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) stars making the move over to other promotions, mainly Bellator MMA.

Prime examples here, here, and here.

But one certain fighter who currently competes for the Viacom-owned mixed martial arts (MMA) organization will soon have a tough decision to make, as Michael Page will becoming a free agent in the near future.

Whether or not he bolts to UFC — or any other promotion -- is uncertain.

This fight with Derek Anderson, then hopefully they book him to fight Paul Daley, no matter what happens with Daley vs MacDonald.

Then I hope he resigns, but would still be a fan if he jumps ship.

I expect the UFC to make him a pretty serious offer. He fits the Sage & Paige pattern of dudes who have high marketability and crazy athleticism, but are only moderately proven and have no fights against top competition.

I do hope his next fight is against someone like Paul Daley, or, well, specifically Paul Daley. Would be a completely badass fight and we'd finally get to see if MVP is a legit top fighter or not. Best to do it now rather than wait for the final fight on his contract.

Or maybe the UFC tries to lowball him because It's Every Fighter's Dream To Fight In The UFC™ and they're still in cost-cutting mode and somehow think $20k + $20k is an appropriate offer. I don't think UFC management is quite that stupid, but they've surprised me before.

Interesting to see what happens with MVP. Interesting to see what happens when the pendulum swings the opposite way.

Fair chance he stays in Bellator imo though. Ufc isn't even trying to pay for their own guys; don't see them throwing huge numbers at MVP. Also, Bellator seems to want to retain its European talent, as they continue to return to London.

I say he stays with Bellator.

I want him to stay with Bellator. What's the point of going to the UFC? No grand entrances.

He hasn't really fought anyone decent yet. Daley would be a good test...then if the UFC did put an offer out there, Bellator would likely have the chance to at least match it. He's in a good spot if he wins his last two....and if the last one is against Daley.

Anything can happen in a fight but if I wanted to keep him in my stable then I'd risk it and match him up against Daley. If Daley beats him then the UFC will not offer him as much and in the end he may want to stay with Bellator...maybe even avenge his loss.
If he wins then likely nothing will have changed with the likelihood of him moving on.

MVP is untested for sure, but he reminds me a lot of Anderson: laser-accurate and in a division of much lesser talent. The question isn't if he ends up in the UFC, it's if he can rise to the occassion once there.

Exactly. U Fight Cheap is full of disgruntled guys for a reason.
