I have a feeling this is gonna be a two-way race between British Columbia and Ontario, but I'd like your input.

People from Ontario tell me that British Columbians are the Canadian version of Californians - always stoned out of their minds and always bragging about how cool their nature and wildfires are. But I've also heard from many Ontarians that Vancouver/B.C. have very little political influence, that the city/province are only significant in the minds of their inhabitants.

British Columbians, meanwhile, tell me that Ontarians are like the Canadian version of New Yorkers. Of course they're exaggerating, because no one can be as rude or crass as a New Yorker, but I gues, in Canadian standards at least, Ontarians are fairly uncouth.

I've also heard, not only from people from B.C. but people from practically every other province, that Ontarians think they're more American than Canadian, and apparently they don't even try to hide it.

That last part is probably true because I normally don't know I'm speaking to a Canadian from Ontario until they tell me. I just assume they're American.

Thoughts?

British Columbia and it’s not even close. Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba are cold lands of flat nothing. Ontario is diet New York, like cmnh said. The rest are either insignificant and or French.

B.C. the most overrated. Beautiful but have fun renting all your life and breathing in forest fire fumes!

Voted Newfoundland obviously but objectively would have to go Albert and Ontario.

The worst is Quebec.

I voted Ontario but am starting to lean B.C.

I may very well change my vote before the day is out...

Alberta because its the Texas of Canada.
Then BC
Then Ontario

Granted, I've never been to Quebec, but they did try to secede, which is pretty ballsy. So that's a plus.

Obviously bottom of the list is that Island one named after a dog that spawned the satan child that is Ted Williams' head @Ted Williams' head

Eliminated.

If someone says "soccer baseball" to you, you immediately know what the sport is and how it's played. I would argue it's the perfect name!

You say kickball... kick it where? You mean soccer? What?

But then again ya'll named a sport "football" where kicking/using your foot encompasses about 5% of the actual game. It'd be like calling soccer "head ball".

If not for New York/New Jersey, Texas would be in the running for worst state.

I swear to god I've never seen a population so proud of such a menial achievement. Yes, you were technically the only state that was ever its own country.

Congrats on being a bunch of failed agriculturalists from Tennessee who became a diplomatic liability for the American government and so had to form a republic.

Further congrats on begging your way into the union.

It’s Nunavut

Sure it’s a territory but I’m gonna nominate it

I guess it all depends on your life style. If you enjoy politics, smoking cigarettes, major league sports and imitating Americans then Ontario is a solid choice.

If you want culture, mountains, coastline and much more laid back life style then without a doubt it's BC. Yes it's pricey but it's worth it IMO. Places like Whistler, Okanagan, Kootneys, the island, Haida Gwaii are just a few examples of nature at its finest.

Alberta because its the Texas of Canada.

Visit Edmonton and Calgary and report back. If you're still on the fence travel to Fort McMurray. They do have Jasper and Banff which are world class but other than that it's pretty boring.

The subject was Quebec and I thought their defen(C)e of their Francophone culture was admirable in the face of neglect at the hands of the anglophone powers that be. I still take umbrage with Chrétien opposing the Meech Lake Accord, but alas, thank goodness French has founded its rightful and noble place throughout the country anyways.

What the hell are you talking about Florida insecurity?

I thought you were passively bragging about the Republic of Texas.

Splinty @Splinty enough with the Quebec stuff. I think everyone can agree that Quebec is the worst province.

But this thread is not an attempt to unite.

What? never!

Though you make a strong case for Texan's rightfully pushing a secession movement to protect our unique culture. For too long, the federal government and other states have diluted our distinct society. I demand that Texas English be printed along with the rest of American English on all items and government documents. I want Florida children having their God Given CHOICE to attend a Texas school.

Else, I fear a secessionist movement is the only route we can go.

Disagree. Most people who visit have lots of good things to say about how cool all the old shit is and lots of great food.

I can say with confidence that Manitoba and Saskatchewan would be less desirable by most. The Maritimes are fun and easy to make fun of but I've never met a Newfie that I didn't end up liking. The other east coast provinces probably suck though.

His claim was that Alberta is the Texas of Canada. If Alberta is boring, then he's probably right. Texas is a massive state with a very small coastline. Speaking of that coastline, finding a beach that isn't polluted with either gulf oil or obese Texans is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Also, did you see that thread Splinty @Splinty made about a car accident outside a Texas club he was at?

The "club" looked like a fukn derelict barn.
