Has anybody said panic button on the home security system yet?

Pitbull is a part-time ninja.
And now I'm curious if you dress up .. and fight crime at night. Vigilante style.
Maybe I have done that a time or two maybe I have even stopped a few incidences from happening

Reviving this thread because I've been getting interested in non-lethal home defense situations. I'm in Portland, OR so there is almost zero police presence. Gun crime in worse parts of the city is double year-over-year, but in my neighborhood these are the common crimes:
  • catalytic converter theft- not uncommon to come out to your car and find someone underneath
  • tweakers menacing people in the street, usually with some kind of blunt weapon
  • yard invasion- again, homeless or tweakers jumping fences and stealing shit from people's backyards
  • petty theft
  • vandalism
  • car theft
These are less-than-lethal force situations, but I believe a force multiplier is necessary. I'm a 20+ year grappling student,10+ year kickboxing student, but I'm not about to jump into a hand-to-hand scuffle with someone I catch stealing my propane tank in the backyard. Way too much chance of getting bit while I'm choking them. They almost all carry blades, screwdrivers or needles.

I am a gun owner. I don't have my CCW just yet, but I do intend to get it.

I've been considering pepperball guns, but I'm open to all suggestions. I've been considering something like this.

catalytic converter theft is big here too in the covid era especially for trucks and the prius which is worth more money, trucks are just easier to steal. people are installing cages on their catalytic converters. pretty much all my home defense weapons are lethal gun/estwood 14" hatchet/knives rather get judged by 12 than carried by 6.

I get you- if anyone breaks into my house they're getting their lung blown out.

I'm talking more- I go outside and catch someone under my car, or I see someone in the backyard stealing my propane tank, etc. Not exactly a home invasion, but still a home defense situation.

I don't believe in non-lethal for home defense.
That doesn't mean I'm shooting someone for breaking into my truck at night. I would hold them at gun point though.

Posted this a few times and seems perfect the only problem is it's limited in some states especially here in California where we can't get the most bad ass version of it...

Splinty posted this video from the UG's own Icy Mike which shows some potential problems with it though...

I was researching exactly this, on exactly that guy's youtube channel and he specifically said the rounds did not have deterrent power, nor was the PAVA strong enough to stop someone. I've been looking at tons of these pepperball throwers, but that guy claims the Mace pepperspray gun was way more effective.

If you're looking at going this route you'd be better off with a can of wasp spray. Allegedly.

What's your issue with this? The regular ones and especially the max versions which I don't see on the website now (they were there a week ago) look like they work well. Stupid California won't allow any of them to shoot with the chemicals in them so we can only get the impact ones so fuck paying the same amount for one of those. The vids look like they work pretty good as long as you only use the first 5 shots.

Meh. I've taken non lethal training where we beat the fuck out of each other with batons and OC spray. In a home/self defense situation you have no idea who the other person is, what they are on, or what their end goal is. A determined attacker is not going to be stopped by that. But most people will stop with a gun drawn on them, and the ones that don't will stop when they get shot.

The use case here is aggressive trespassers, car thieves, and other situations where deadly force isn't legal.

This would not be for use inside the house, anyone who actually breaks into my house is subject to deadly force.
