Holy shit. So I assume they're dead if they fall?
That's what I wanna know

Seems like you would just get totally crushed.

Even if they survive, how long are they ragdolled under water?

Do they wear leash? I wouldn't want to be attached to my board being tumbled under a wave like that. I got dumped surfing on a wave 1/millionth as small once and the board cracked me on the head underwater, I came up half conscious and bleeding. And the wave was nothing, really

Does anyone know the risk/death count in this sport?

so nuts

yes you can die from any of these waves
these guys are all expert watermen to even be out there
U can survive as long as you can stay composed as you get rag dolled about and off reefs
they wear a releasable leash...has a quick release...Lotta boards breaking in this competition
Guys die on big waves no doubt...maybe 1 every 2 years, I'm talking about well known guys
Crazy and skilled guys doing crazy stuff..amazing

Isn't it the only wave in the world that breaks under sea level? When I watched laird hamilton's white knuckle extreme featuring this wave I just about lost my shit. So many waves have death written on them and this has to take the cake, hands down.
