I am willing to put my screen name up for grabs on this. Cain is going to win.

My reasoning: Cain clearly won the 1st round by clinching up Werdum in the first fight and constantly moving forward. Only when his gas tank started to deplete did we see the fight turn for Werdum when he started landing shots, forcing Cain to shoot into the guillotine. The rematch is going to look more like that 1st round because Cain will be full strength.

This is not going to be Cain's first fight in 2 years like last time and he won't have altitude as an excuse this time either. It's going to be Cain, the real one, coming to party.

Who's got me?

I like your reasoning and I appreciate the man's style of fighting. I'd have said False before but now I'm not so sure.

I'm picking Werdum just because I think he's always evolving and is the better fighter now. I also think the two year break Cain took off after 2013 really hurt him.

Werdum has too many ways to finish. He can finish on the feet or on the mat. Cain mainly finishes with GnP which Werdum is really good at avoiding. It's an overlooked part of his guard but he rarely gets hit.

That's a really good point. His guard defense is insanely good.

Rewatch the 1st fight. Pay attention to how Werdum won it.

If Cain works the clinch and keeps the dirty boxing working, Werdum A) won't be able to outbox Cain like the 1st fight or B) won't be able to force Cain into his guard again. It'll be a longer replay of the first round unless Cain gasses again.

I have Werdum winning this one and would prefer a Paypal bet over a SN, let me know if you're interested.

If Sea Level Cain shows up, and we have no reason to believe he won't, he's gonna smoke Werdum.

Ill paypal bet somebody. He gets beat worse this time. Dude doesn't deserve a rematch anyway ... Dana said he lost because of the elevation? Wtf? hes known since ufc 180 when he was supposed to fight doom the first time, that the elevation was serious. Now we are going to start seeing instant rematches because "listen, the guy got knocked out. If Cain was still conscious, he would have kept going. You can't blame the guy when he wants to keep fighting but his body shuts down. A guy like Velasquez keeps coming. We'll see what happens in the quadrillogy."

It doesn't really matter if Cain deserves the rematch or not, the fights going to happen February 6 and somebody is going to walk out of that cage with a belt around their waist. The only question there is, is: will the fight play out like the last one did or will it not?

I always get carried away with my frustrations of Dana... But to speak on the fight, werdum puts on a worse ass beating. Imo werdum is the goat heavy. People forget werdum cardio will be better too. He will tko Cain this time I believe. Just a horrible matchup for Cain.

Cains whole game is dirty boxing, clinch, getting on the inside. He does not want werdum in clinching distance, he will be swept and then submitted.

What is under rated is werdums MT. Werdum imo has the best skill set of any Mma fighter, and he will go undefeated unless he tries to fight Father Time or gets 1 shot kod.

He has the best fundamentals in Mma. He throws clean, efficient combos with punches and kicks at different levels. He can fight on the outside with his kicks and he doesn't have to worry about being taken down, a lot like dos anjos. His clinch is one of the best in Mma and definitely the best at heavy. He has powerful roundhouses and front kicks. He could use a little bit more modern boxing, but he really doesn't need to because if he's in boxing range he can shoot or even pull guard, or at least initiate clinch. I don't even have to talk about his guard of top game because you guys already know. In short, Velasquez is getting fucked up, worse than before.

cain is good with rematches, but I think cain not being able to control werdum on the ground is his problem he can wrestlefuck the rest of the all the other HW but werdum's BJJ is cains weakness, his only chance is to sprawl and brawl vs werdum next fight.

What was really the difference in cardio in the last one? It seemed like it was the different altitude acclimation, but obviously there are "other possibilities." There isn't anybody outside Cain's camp or inner circle that really knows what the difference was. Will he have better cardio than Werdum, the cardio of "the old Cain," when they meet again? If he doesn't, Werdum is the correct favorite. If he does, then he is. Werdum is a much more knowable quantity in this one, IMO.

True. If his loss in the first fight wasnt a result of not acclimating himself to the altitude in Mexico, I'm wrong and Velasquez gets romped again in Vegas, I'm gonna assume Cain was on the juice earlier in his career.

Werdum tried to sweep Cain and Cain held his ground. If it were that easy, Werdum should've easily won that first round according to your assessment of his overall skills. Cain smothered him though, and unless he gasses, Werdum will need to actually land the sweep to avoid a 5 round dirty box/clinch war. Let's not forget they were on the ground in the 1st fight, but it was only when Cain dove into the guillotine out of desperation did Werdum sink anything. Cain is not a fish out of water in a ground fight with Fabricio.

The Cain train's a-comin'!

I see what you are saying but what I am saying is what I believe. And I believe this fight will be even worse for Cain.
