If we were being strict, punching power by definition cannot be classified as pound for pound. Punching power depends on the pounds you have and more importantly the pounds you have over your opponent, Conor could be on of the P4P biggest punchers...maybe (IMO that title belongs to Rumble considering the wide variety of weightclasses he's fought at). Even if punching power was such a criterea, he lost a fight ago and his career and later won a close decision against a mediocre LW, then KO'd Alvarez..Conor's run while impressive was favorable to his circumstances. Pound for pound has to have the skills that transcend weightclasses MM has that.I can definitely see the argument for MM ahead of Jones and Silva, honestly I could see the argument for conor ahead of Jones and Silva too
I wouldn't argue with somebody having a top 5 of
GSP
Fedor
Cruz
MM
Conor
@Filthy MM already fought up. He had fought Cruz, giving him up until Cody/TJ one of his closest fights, while he was working a real job. That's some P4P shit.
If I were being honest, I'd be inclined to pick a lot more fighters that are well rounded, but perhaps not necessarily winning all the time. F.e. Luke Rockhold would be somewhere in my P4P list, not top 10, maybe top 20? He is very well rounded and even though he lost, my money would be on him in a rubber match with Bisping.
