Well why do people say that they need a full camp more than other styles? Surely it's because they need to develop the strength endurance to be able to hold people down and even with good technique at the top 5 level they will have to work for it regardless.
i dont think its so much about the strength if you're a way better wrestler as it is about technique and endurance.. there isn't that big of a strength gap between most fighters because of weight classes, aside from a few beasts.

getting "a good wrestlfuck on while clean" is simply a matter of being conditioned enough to go the full 3 or 5 rounds. you're right that standing up and striking requires less conditioning than wrestling. It is just as tiring trying to defend wrestlers as it is for the offensive wrestler, if not more. Once a fight is a few minutes in and the fighters muscles muscles start to fill with blood because they are being forced to grapple, it's harder to strike as quickly in the standup. the advantage swings to the wrestler as the fight goes on, if he can continue to work his game plan.

thats just the way i see it... out of all sports, wrestlers have the best conditioning in my opinion. like if u see a wrestling match with good wrestlers, it is one persons will against the others. additionally, strength, speed, and endurance are all essential. it is literally constant pressure, constant movement, constant pushing and pulling, with the use of every muscle in your body; it is strength vs strength, technique vs technique, willpower vs willpower, and in a close match the winner is usually the person who has the mindset to keep pushing the pace until the final whistle.

"Don't beat your opponent, break your opponent" --- quote on the wrestling wall at my wrestling club back in the day.
