I hear you, but there are plenty that feel otherwise.

Also I saw your post pimping us. I owe you a thanks for that, but if you look in that thread you'll see a lot of people responding saying the lack of De facto vote down is one of the selling features.

So for now it stays away and wed be hard pressed to bring it back.

Now I just wish people would give me some input for other icons....wtf, random are both great ideas that I just need icons for.
Would you be opposed if we had a vote for the site on the disagree button?
Majority rules, if 51 people don't like it and 49 do, then we don't get it, vice versa?

Also not sure about a wtf one but random i am on board with.

If its really that big of an issue, then it'd be fair to vote on it. We make some needed executive decisions on divided issues, but dont want to be out of touch with the overarching community wants.

I'd want us to consider a much larger majority than just 51%. There's some real concern about the use of the button threatening the longevity of the site and we removed it following real negative effects in which discussion was not being had to go along with the habit of 'drive-by' disagreeing.

I also dont want us to divide the whole site with so much focus on this. Are people going to stop posting if we dont have it? I doubt it. Are people going to stop posting because we have it? A couple did and many others really dont want it.

So understand that's where this is coming from and it wasn't a light decision made overnight.

Let me run it past Wild as we both agreed to remove it. But I'd personally be willing to go with a higher standard...maybe 70% and wed bring it back. You are after all asking for something that doesn't directly boost the other community members....But hell we dont want to fight the public wants.

That's fair, and I see where you're coming from regarding 51% analogy. I too feel if I'm in the minority on this issue we shouldn't change just to please a small percentage.

There IS a disagree button. As Zeph @Zeph said, it's called "Reply". ;)
this also is a fair point. it is much easier to click disagree and move on than to counter an with an argument of your own.i would like to see a disagree option but not if the cost is lack of conversation on the board

If you guys would, hang tight on this topic. Let's let this thread get back on track and I'll start a new one later directly about this so we can all chime in.
